NFL Europe: Rhein Fire move into first-place tie

    AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands (AP)—
Kendall Newson caught a 17-yard touchdown pass from Chris Greisen with just over six minutes remaining Sunday, helping the Rhein Fire to a 28-21 victory over the Berlin Thunder in NFL Europe.
The Fire moved into a tie for first place with FC Barcelona and the Frankfurt Galaxy at 5-3. Rhein faces the Galaxy next week with a berth in the World Bowl on the line.

Greisen was 5-of-6 for 59 yards and two touchdowns. He threw a 24-yard scoring pass to Charlie Adams in the first half, and found Newson for the game-winning score with 6:06 remaining.

David Allen scored on a 15-yard run, and Axel Kruse added the extra point to give Berlin (2-6) a 21-20 lead with 10:58 left.

The Fire's Lemual Ligon intercepted a pass by Phil Stambaugh with nine seconds remaining to preserve the victory.
