Brees's first three years were pretty poor. Everyone would have been calling for his head in the middle of the third year and we never would have had a chance to see him progress. BTW, this isn't a defense for Trent; I'm just saying what would have actually happened had Brees been in Buffalo.

His 1st year was basically a sit and learn. His next 2 had almot EVERYONE writing him off. But SD stuck with him for that 4th year.
He had an ok 1st game that year. Efficient but not spectacular.... then 2 bad games... and everyone just itched to be rid of him... then BOOM. lights out the rest of the way and a trip to the pro bowl.
He had the luxury of playing for a GOODcoach (Marty S, playoff failures aside.) and on a better run team... plus he had that year to learn.
Trent was thrown to the wolves and has never had a good coach. I still see poential... but if he doen'st get some REAL coaching soon, it might not matter.
