Welcome to the position where fantasy championships are born.

Too bad that there's a lot of uncertainly surrounding the running back position in 2002. Blow it on more than two RB selections, and you'll be a big contributor to that juicy pot waiting for all those other jerks in your league to divvy up amongst themselves.

So load up early on quality starting backs, and you'll be doing yourself a favor, as well as seriously hurting your opposition's chances.

1. Marshall Faulk Rams Week 6 c, x

Faulk is enjoying one of the most productive career stretches in the history of the game. Will Father Time start to catch up with the Marshall Plan? Might miss a few games, but is the #1 overall FF draft option. Slight injury concern: is rapidly approaching thirty, and the hands of fate are sure to strike down one of the Rams' offensive juggernauts soon with a stroke of injury.

2. Shaun Alexander Sea Week 5 uu

Alexander Great is ready to explode towards greatness entering season as the uncontested top bird in Seattle's backfield. Threat to consistently churn out fantasy points as well as deliver those monster-scoring long-distance touchdowns. Could challenge Marshall's TD scoring proficiency if he can resist injury, is worth of a top-five draft selection.

3. Ahman Green GB Week 8

Has one of the best handing off to him, as well as one of the more solid and underrated O-lines. Versatile blend of power and speed, is one of most complete backs in league who also can hurt you in the passing game. Could become even more active in 2002 as Farve gets to know his new WR core. Reliable touchdown threat whom should post close to 2,000 combined yards from scrimmage. ...MORE...
