Re: Maybin waiting for more chances
we drafted a 3-4OLB to play DE in a 4-3 scheme COver2
i dont know what they expected oh yeah
same thing they expected drafting Poz to play MLB in a Cover 2 when he is an outside OLB who should be in a 3-4 or an attacking 4-3 not drop back and react crap Fewell plays
same thing they expected when signing Mirchell to play OLB when he is much more suited to play MLB and again another LBer that doesnt fit the Cover 2 scheme
Same thing with Kyle Williams who is good against the run but horrible pass rush and what does a COver 2 call for ?? a rass rushing DT hence our attempt with Larry Triplett
Same thing goes for Denney and Kelsay no pass rush Cover 2 calls for what from there Dline? pass rushers
Same can be said for Whitner and Scott no being protypical SS and FS for a Cover 2

Re: Maybin waiting for more chances
Coaching.... coaching... coaching... hopefully we are out of our misery soon with a real coach who can see the talent and use them the right way. I think it can be done. I don't think we have too much to fix as long as we add some good minds and a true leader as coach.Impossible is Nothing.

Re: Maybin waiting for more chances
Maybin would be flourishing in the JETS 3-4 defense. Even though the JETS D is struggling right now to get to the QB, Maybin would be the guy who could get there..and quickly. I guarantee the next head coach moves him to an OLB spot in a 3-4. That is, if we DO switch to a 3-4 which I hope we do.

Re: Maybin waiting for more chances
Maybe Maybin should think about EARNING extra chances by playing well instead of WAITING for them. This whole franchise has a loser mentality, thanks to Dick.

Re: Maybin waiting for more chances
What seriously pisses me off about the Maybin pick is that they knew the OL was **** and that they needed an OT.
They sign Hargartner for Center - fine, I'm OK with that.
Then they send off Peters to Philly - fine, dill hole didn't want to be here.
So then they draft Maybin 1st overall and swear up and down that Walker will be the answer at LT. Walker gets canned. OL = plan C = gay.
It was obvious that Maybin was under sized, so to draft him solely as a DE is just asinine. He has much more potential as a 3-4 OLB. His speed and size dictate it.
So if they never had plans of using him at LB, and can't inject him at DE, why didn't they just draft the best available OT?
Such a waste.
Instead they have aa team of projects. This coaching team might be right when bragging about being great teachers, but these teachers are spread too thin and this team is now diluted with predictable under-talented journeymen.Last edited by ChristopherWalken; 10-17-2009, 09:14 AM.
