I couldn't believe it when it happened. I liken it to a hockey player leaving his feet to lay an opposing player out, mid-ice, when the other player doesn't even have the puck.

He was ejected and I will be VERY interested to see how the league handles the hit.

One great thing about hockey is that the players can police the game themselves a bit through fighting. If you make a dirty hit in hockey, you're going to have a guy flyin at you with his fists blazing.

I was happy to see Smith's teammates sticking up for him, going after Wesley.

It pissed me off, how he got angry that he got ejected! **** that guy. I hope his house is vandalized. I don't care, he deserves it.

Yeah I watched this live, omg, what a nasty shot. Thats gonna cost him money and a game or 2 for sure. What should they fine him ? Ray Lewis got 25k he should get more.

Ugly ugly cheap shot. Im sure he is gonna end up having to give a public appology as well.

i honestly think that was a 100% lapse in judgement which happens to everyone....if he handles it well and apologizes to Smith and stuff a MAX of a 1 game suspension without pay is what he deserves

No, it deserves more than 1 game. You have to put the hammer down with things like this to make sure there isn't a repeat performance.

What a scumbag

That wasn't even close. The league is gonna make an example of him.

I like it wish we had players like that, I don't think it was that bad he is going as fast as he can down the field. It isn't hard to lose track of the ball and mistime it.

If you don't want to get hit than don't play football it is the risk you take. It was a clean hit that was just mistimed, not like he did anything dirty (helmet, go low, etc)

Eh. That wasn't as bad as I had heard from some friends of mine at the bar tonight.

Cheap, yes.

Dirty, yes.

Fined, definitely.

Suspended, no chance in hell.

Yeah, It would not have been so bad had the guy not called for the fair catch :laughter: Wesley just plain opened a can on the guy who had no idea he was even gonna get hit after the FC signal. Last time I saw a hit like that is was one of our Saturday games years ago, you know the ones. You get a dozen or so friends go down to the local HS field and (preferably in the rain) knock the piss out of each other for about 3 hours. Then call in sick Monday for work :D

On the sideline after the hit Mousin Muhammad gives Wesley a total look of disgust. If looks could kill..

The guy could have been paralyzed. Not bad? He couldn't even protect himself. I'm disgusted. It is equivalent to a sucker punch

Yea, DeAngelo Williams did the same thing and you could see Williams was saying something like what the heck were you doing and thinking? His teammates defended him from getting pummeled out there by Jaguars players but in no way did they defend his actions. Smith was totally defenseless out there.

I don't think there is any doubt the dude should be suspended.

The question is...Should Buffalo send film into the league office on Trent's injury? He was in a pretty defenseless position also.

what a jerkoff. i hope Goodell drops the hammer on him when he addresses this matter. the guy was totally defenseless.

I'm hoping for a 3-game suspension, based on the nature of the hit. Wesley is lucky that Smith got up and looked 'ok', minus a concussion.

I'd like to hear his defense. Not that I'd buy it at all... I'd just like to hear the loser's hairbrain explanation.
