Hell it could be Byrd and Wilson on passing downs. No need to have Whitner out there.COMING SOON...

Byrd is the ball hawk we have lacked since Jones and will make QBs think twice about throwing over the top.
Whitners best attributes are his leadership, preparation for the opponent (he makes sure everyone is in the right place), tackling, and his heart.
I know Whitner has not lived up to number 8, but we need to keep him.

I actually like the look of our Safeties now. Byrd is going to be a good one. Whitner is solid. Scott I feel, is actually best used situationally. He does a pretty good job on the larger TEs around the league, and is also handy in run support. Wilson seems to finally have found his niche, and can come in and do a job with little drop-off, and he will always make his share of plays on Special Teams. I think we have a very solid group there now tbh.

Re: SO, who starts at safety when everyone is healthy?
What is weird about the safety scenario is Scott was our starting SS, and Whitner was to be moved to FS before we ever drafted Byrd
Then we drafted Byrd to play FS with a hi 2nd round pick? so isnt that giving up on Whitner right there u took the guy 3 yrs ago with the 8th overall pick he couldnt hack it at SS which is evident by his low impact plays no INTs and constant injuries?
it even says in an article today that we drafted Byrd for the intention to have him start from day 1 at FS but injuries and lack of time with the scheme derailed that till injuries rushed him in
"The Bills had designs on making Byrd a starter after drafting him in the second round out of Oregon. They love his nose for the ball as evidenced by his 17 career interceptions as a cornerback."
IM sorry but i read how whitner was playing all pro ball before he got hurt but i strongly disagree with that he was not and just because he picked offa ball thrown right at him by a horrible QB means nothing to me
Byrd and Scott should be the starters cause our terrible Scheme calls for a LBer type SS and a ball hawking FS no matter how u do the math if healthy in my opinion Scott and Byrd should start
Whitner is an injury prone bust and he is terrible against the run and burnt way to often against the passLast edited by bigbub2352; 10-19-2009, 12:01 PM.XTRA CRISPY XTRA SAUCEY
