The former Bellaire Big Red and Ohio State Buckeye is too old these days.

They cut 4 players including Tully Banta-Cain.

They cut 2: Galloway and TE Michael Matthews.

Tully Banta-Cain was cut as a procedural move, then re-signed to a 3-year contract. Because he was on a 2-year minimum deal that qualified for the Vet Min Salary Exception, they could not extend his contract unless they cut him first. He was at practice today.

Like Banta-Cain, Eric Alexander was reportedly cut as well. However, Belichick said today he was not released, and he was at practice today.

Belichick has said they will probably promote from the practice squad to fill the spots. My guess is WR Terrence Nunn, who had a strong training camp, and TE Tony Agnone, as they currently only have 2 TE.

The Pats also have a couple players coming off the PUP. WR Brandon Tate, a returner, and OL Mark LeVoir, a young OT who they like a great deal. They both started practicing today, and the Pats have 3 weeks to activate them or place them on IR. Both will probably eventually be activated, although it seems unlikely to happen for a couple weeks.

I'm just reporting the news. They technically cut 4 even though they brought 2 of them back.
