    Roy gives Sabres talent infusion

Junior league sensation is Canada's hockey idol

(May 29, 2003) — The Buffalo Sabres averted a public relations disaster Wednesday by signing junior hockey sensation Derek Roy.

It is much too early to tell if Roy is destined to replace departed Michael Peca as the heart and soul of the Sabres, but he appears to have some of the right ingredients.

Roy, a playmaking center who turned 20 this month, is the hockey toast of Canada after leading the Kitchener Rangers to the Ontario Hockey League and Memorial Cup championships.

Yeah, I haven't ever read a single bad thing about this guy. I'm hoping he can make the sabres roster next year.
