Hypothetically, knowing what we know now, do you take Byrd, who the 49ers had targeted at #43 in the 2009 draft, or take the trade that Carolina pulled off where they traded the 2010 #1 pick to San Francisco for the right to select DE Everette Brown? I'd personally take the guy who is playing safety right now in the Bills defensive backfield! Opinions??
A number one pick in 2010 or...

Considering how Carolina are playing a trade would have resulted in a high pick in 2010 which will more likely provide the ammunition to get an elite LT plus a franchise QB.
Byrd has done exceptionally well, but Atogwe is a ballhawk for the Rams too. A franchise LT and a franchise QB are more valuable long term than a ballhawk Safety

I don't know. The question at this point has to be: how much do you trust the Bills to draft a quality player in the first round?
While Byrd obviously still needs to prove himself over time, he's shown that he can play at this level. Any other draft pick is still a risk, even Eric Berry."Misguided political correctness tethers our intellects."

Did the Panthers ever make an offer to the Bills for their 2nd rounder? Because if they didn't, the hypothetical is moot.
The Panthers really screwed that one! Brown doesn't look like anything and cost them probably a top-5 pick next year, at least top-10.

I'll take the Byrd in the hand."'Clean up your room.', 'Stand up straight.', 'Pick up your feet.', 'Take it like a man.', 'Be nice to your sister.', 'Don't mix beer and wine, ever.'. Oh yeah, 'Don't drive on the railroad track.'"
"Eh, Phil. That's one I happen to agree with."
