I have a poll up for a story I'm working on for tomorrow. The question is "If you could take just one Texan and put him on the Bills" who would it be?

The candidates are: Matt Schaub, Andre Johnson, Owen Daniels, Mario Williams and Eric Winston.

Please vote there (http://www.buffalosportsdaily.com) .....

and then discuss here. I"m looking for vote results, as well as input.

Thanks guys (and girls)

Schaub or Andre Johnson would be what it would come down to for me.

I'd take Shaub. Andre would be worthless without anyone throwing the ball to him, anyway.

I think I'd have to go Schaub based on positional need.

But IM going to wait for more votes and feedback

Williams and Johnson are studs and much better at their position than Schaub but I would have to say Schaub because the Bills are not just ok at the QB position they are putrid and it is a severe liability to this team. If they had a decent QB that could open up so much offensively. The weapons are there offensively. We just do not have a good QB.

This really should even be close, Andre Johnson is a top 3 WR in the NFL. Only Mario Williams would be another viable candidate. This is like the draft, you take their best players always.

That is where I am. (Although Johnson is clearly a top 2 WR - He and Fitz are better than the rest).

Williams is tempting though, if only because a pass rusher is more critical than a WR.

I might have to flip a coin between the two.

Id put Calvin Johnson up with Fitz and Andre in all honesty. That's how good that kid is.

Could be. It is hard to evaluate him in Detroit though.

Fitz is number 1, imo.

Owen Daniels. Defenses are shutting down the big play with keeping help over the top. TE's are the leading receiver on a number of teams.

Schaub has nearly half the votes right now

Yeah, he had the great Bills-inspired hit, "Crying."

But I'd take Johnson, who is a tremendous receiver.

SCHAUB by a land slide in my vote.
You need to start a team around a FRANCHISE type guy...

Schaub is nothing more than an average QB, I don't understand all the love for him. Anyone would look good throwing to Johnson. Just look at what happened when the Jets took him out the game.

What the hell is Andre Johnson going to do for this team? Who's gonna get him the ball?

Schaub has talent, but has too many injuries. I voted Williams because I think the Bills, like anyone, need to start by having great offensive lines and great defensive lines. Then you start building outward. Andre Johnson is a great player, but we thought the Bills had great wide receivers this year, and where has that gotten the team? Yes, QB is a problem. But it all starts up front. Then you get receivers and running backs. Then you get a QB. An above average QB with good weapons and a great line is as effective (or more effective) then a superstar QB with a crappy line and decent weapons. Kyle Orton is a prime example as opposed to someone like Jay Cutler.

good question... it's a choice between the best WR in the league... vs the 5th or 8th best QB.

I'd go with Matt Schaub based on need. But it would be damned tempting to go with Johnson. Only issue is, can we get Kubiac as coach too?

Schaub OBVIOUSLY.
