Every time I look at the remaining schedule I'm thinking 8-8, not 7-9.

well i had the bills in my season prediction thread at 3-5... and i'm 6-2 in actually predicting the winners of the games (flipped the browns and jets games)
I'm still sticking to my preseason prediction of 5-11... that i predicted that record when the schedule came out (last winter) is another thing all together.

BTW: about the article. Not bad.. can't argue with most of it. Though the D-line has been better then you give them credit for, and the linebackers have been far worse.
Frankly... the D-line seems to be doing the job against the run and pass for the most part. it's the linebackers blowing their gap assignments and missing tackles and failing to come off their blockers that's killing the run defense right now (I won't even talk about the LBing Corps horrible pass defense... it's simple atrocious, and their blitz timing is embarrassing).
That's not to say that our ends suddenly became stout against the run. They're not that good at all really, but they are far better then they were the last few years.
