Youd think they'd be able to coordinate games so that they don't fall on the same night.

Hell, you'd think the Hockey championship would be done by freaking May! This is pretty pathetic. It's the end of May and freaking hockey is still on. That is why they have problems selling tickets and TV problems. It's on too freaking late in the year and is tooooo long!!!

Mike, if your team was playing now you'd be playing a different tune

Mike's the ultimate reactionary and bandwagoner.

If the Amerks were still playing he'd be hollering how great it is from the highest roof

Well, think about it. If Detroit and the Nets didn't end in a sweep, then they would be playing on the off nights of the Spurs/Mavs. The NBA isn't going to have both series on the same night.

Now, the Devils are still playing. If the Spurs/ Mavs were on opposite nights, and if the Nets/Pistons were still playing, then BOTH the Devils and Nets would be playing on the same day- that would get really interesting if both were at home today.

If the NHL were smart, they'd wait an extra day so they're not going head-to-head.

When a series starts, you have to schedule all 7 games. You can't just "decide" to schedule some of them, hope a Basketball team wins or loses, and then schedule games with 2 days notice.

ABC, ESPN, TNT all have commitments to advertisers and network programming. They need some planning in advance.

Unless you are some mad lunatic sports dictator, this is a dumb idea. Yough luck you have 2 of the most boring franchises going far in the playoffs, the Nets and Devils.

If the NHL were smart they would bar the devils from ever making the playoffs again. Watching them play makes watching leave it to beaver seem exciting!

Remember that hockey came first, it's basketball that needs to adjust it's schedule.

This is a major problem for hockey. It cannot compete against b-ball for ratings, therefore it suffers, and will never make major inroads in the US.

I say we do away with basketball altogether.
