McC`luster to low, and Capers to high. And at this point you can't put Devlin ahead of any of those four Jr's.
Rest look pretty good.

I dont like McClust because I dont know what he'll play in the NFL. He's not Reggie Bush but he plays the same hybrid position. I love Capers and I think he'll be this years Jason Smith with his athleticisim.

None of the Junior QB's has looked like Devlin has this year. Just because he plays in the FCS doesn't mean he can't sling the rock. He's my top rated QB in the entire draft right now if I combined them.

He is more fluid laterally than Lee Evans is, definitely will be a better pro, imo. If I'm going to compare Golden Tate to a pro, Derrick Mason is about the best I can think of right now.

Interesting. Thanks for replying.

I don't want to say i like any college team, but i do enjoy watching Notre Dame a lot and happen to root for them, and for the past two years i've just been wondering if Tate could be better then Evans for no reason at all. lol

Mccluster is a tough kid and will play in the NFL. He will be a specialty type player. A rb, slot wr, 3rd down back, different look change of pace player. He will have a role with the right team. Half those guys you have in front of him won't even make a final NFL roster.
Wasn't Devlin at Penn St. or was it Pitt ? I know he was a bigtime recruit. We'll see.

Devlin looks amazing throwing the ball doesn't he? His level of competition scares me to death, but damn does he have a fantastic arm and great vision. The trick is does he come out this year or not.

He's on pace to break most (if not all) of Flacco's single season records at Delaware this year, so you have to wonder what staying one more year will prove. That said he's playing D1-AA ball, and an extra year will be viewed favorably by most scouts and personnel people.

Based purely on his arm he certainly should be in the conversation as one of the most interesting prospects floating around... though its probably unlikely he'll declare this year.

The Derrick Mason comparison is a good one, he may be a little more athletic than Mason though. He can really get us after the ball in the air and he runs very good routes.

Tough kid no doubt but like you list him yourself he is a tough kid without an exact position. He lacks the athleticism of a Percy Harvin, and I have no doubt that every guy I listed ahead of him will be an NFL roster come next season. Barring unforeseeable circumstances.

I didnt like Flacco when he was at Delaware because of the lack of competition, so with that Im not really too concerned. Especially with in recent years how many more kids have come out of FCS and become NFL ball players. Devlin's ability to throw the ball down the field is incredible but he shows amazing touch on all the throws. He has pocket presence and escapability. His mechanics needs some polishing naturally but even a half competent QB coach should be able to help him with that.

I think that he will truly shine at the combine drills.

He was at PSU and was beaten out by Clark. He didn't want to have to wait another year just to start for only one year before his eligibility ran out.

Looks like PSU got the raw end of that deal. Clark has been good against poor competition, but it's like he channels his inner Anthony Morelli when it comes to big games. I'll be interested to see Kevin Newsome next year, hopefully with a better OL.

Really what does Joe Pa. see in Clark that he would start him over Devlin ? That in a nutshell has been one of the problems at PSU. They recruit a big time passing qb and they sit him for a marginal running qb. Those guys can't beat the good teams, passing qb's, like a Devlin at least give you a chance. Doesn't make sense to me.

Ingtar33
11-09-2009, 10:46 AM
There was two reasons why Clark won the starting job.

1) Joe Pa hates to unseat older classmen for younger without damned good reason. he's not unusual among college football coaches. most promote more by class then by skill.

2) Clark is a better "option" quarterback then Devlin. He's a better runner, and a Huge part of the Penn St offense was the threat a running QB brought. So Joe Pa wanted Clark to run his offense, over Devlin who was the superior pure passer. The irony is, it was Devlin backing up Clark that made Joe Pa confident to run all those QB runs and options. When Devlin transferred out, and Joe Pa with no credible backup on the squad he was forced to drop most of the QB option plays and QB sneaks... so this year Clark was forced to play as mostly a pocket qb.

It's an interesting irony, that Devlin left penn st because Joe Pa wanted Clark running the team because he was a better scrambler, yet when Devlin left the team Clark was forced to play as a pocket passer due to the lack of a credible backup QB on the squad... In short Joe Pa was stuck running the offense Devlin would have had to run had he won the starting job, with Clark under center.

So Joe Pa. made a bad move on his qb. If it was 1980, Clark would have worked, but in today's game Devilin was the better option. So it is time for JP to step aside for the betterment of the team.

I'm not sure how much it matters at this point. Maybe Ingtar would disagree, but from what it seems, Joe Pa doesn't have that much control anyway. Tom Bradley appears to be running the team for the most part.

Mid to Low 1st Round right now.

Only a few concerns on him.

Hes listed at 6' 5" but he really looks more like 6' 4" or maybe even only 6' 3". No concern with the height only that he may lose leverage on taller DE's. He starts at RT instead of LT which is strange to me with his athleticism. And he seems raw to me, not as nicely polished technique as you might like.

But as far as athleticism goes, hes off the charts.

I really like McCluster, but I see you have him rated last amongst your receivers.. Despite his size, he plays like a big man, and he can line up and take snaps at running back too. I really wouldn't mind to see us draft this guy, especially since Roscoe will be leaving.

I like Cooper the best.

Cooper reminds me a lot of Jordy Nelson but with more pub coming out.

Shipley is a very poor man's Wes Welker type.

I dont see that gear in McCluster's game. He has great agility though.

Looks like Patty D is starting to show what he's worth. Kid is quietly having a great season. I realize he plays in the spread but 5 straight games over 70% completion is nuts and only 2 games under 60%. Add in only 2 picks sign me up for this kid. He will be taken in the 2nd after the offseason workouts.

WeAreArthurMoates
12-06-2010, 02:28 PM
Looks like Patty Devlin was bothered early on by that injury. This kid still seems to me like the best developmental prospect out there. Def think he can start in this league. He finished up incredibly strong, 6 straight games with a 66% completion percentage or higher and in those games threw 13td's to 1 pick (18td's and 2 ints on the year).
