I have it on real good authority that the Bills have signed QB Brian Brohm off of Green Bay's practice squad. Please wait for confirmation.

It is official, Brian Brohm is a Buffalo Bill. Just waiting on the story to break on a major news source.

Packers tried to sign him off their own PS but instead he chose the Bills...

logical move for someone who wants to play.

I actually like this signing and for once we didn't grab for garbage. Is this the Buffalo bills?

Not a bad signing. The guy has a lot of potential. I liked him coming out of college and thought he was a steal for Green Bay in the second round. Although, no sure what has happened to him since joining the Packers and why he never developed into even a #2 guy. But, good signing for sure by the Bills.

is this for real? how did the news just come out now? i like this idea. i'm sure he will be out at least one of the losers we have at the qb position.

i like it too. i thought for green bay, he was an absolute steal at in round 2 and couldn't believe they drafted him. someone must not have been so sure about rodgers for some reason. i hope he starts at the miami game. highly doubtful but anything can happen.

Maybe we groom him and give him game reps this season. We did sign him to our "active roster".

One last thing before I hit the hay, I love this pick up. It is a worthwhile late season steal. He is a year removed from being a second round pick, and reports from the Pack-camp said that he was improving. Who knows, could be a viable backup.

i like this signing but.......there is a hint of a trent clone.

Um. He was not good enough to be the clipboard holder, nevermind the backup in Green Bay. I'm not thinking he's going to make any difference at all as the Bill's clipboard holder. Just another useless transaction.

But, then again, the Bills were starting Meredith. . .

This all just speaks to how god-awful the offensive situation is where they can improve the roster by signing as many Green Bay practice squaders as possible.

I forgot about that connection. Wouldn't it be nice to put Wood back under center.

You like to dream, thinking Shanahan may come in and have some young QB's to work with.

Currently we have nothing at QB so this is the first of 3 we must add to the 2010 roster to compete.

Dujek

Like the signing. Thought he was a good QB at the college level, and he seems able to absorb hits unlike someone we're all familiar with, which is an advantage with the Bills' line.

Michael82

I like this move. He was one of the top QBs in the draft last year and is big, supposedly has a big arm and is not a California QB. It's better than the other options we have at QB right now...

It hurts that they lost a recent 2nd round pick for nothing in return. But Brohm was clearly the 3rd best QB on the team over the last two seasons. He was much better this preseason compared to his rookie year. He probably had little chance of moving ahead of backup QB Matt Flynn (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/34560/Matt_Flynn), and had no chance of taking the starting job away from QB Aaron Rodgers (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/1977/Aaron_Rodgers). At best, he could have shown some improvement next preseason, as did former Packer preseason superstar QB Matt Hasselbeck (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/2306/Matt_Hasselbeck), and then been traded for something in a year or two. In the end, he turned out to be a high priced insurance policy in case Rodgers fell on his face last season. And it was offset by the knowledge that they used a 7th round pick in 2008 on a backup QB (Flynn) who appears to have 2nd round talent.
Watching the Browns game on Monday night reminded me of Brohm. Both he and QB Brady Quinn (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/16698/Brady_Quinn) have poor accuracy past about 10 yards. If Quinn could be an NFL starter, it seemed ridiculous that Brohm couldn't find a team interested in adding him to their active roster. If QB Bruce Gradkowski (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/1809/Bruce_Gradkowski) can start in Oakland (http://www.sbnation.com/2009/11/18/1163898/bruce-gradkowski--raiders-quarterback), then certainly Brohm deserves a chance somewhere. He might not get that chance this season, but he'll probably be given an opportunity to win the Bills starting job next season.

I was a big Brohm fan at Louisville.

I love it because instead of being stuck on the bench, he comes to a team with no clear starter. I know it will take him time to learn the offense, but I hope we dumb it down, make it simple, and put him on the field this year.

The guy has a lot of potential.

How many QB's been signed off a practice squad that turned out to be good?

The signing is ok but the Bills still need to keep searching for a franchise QB until they find one.

I liked Brohm coming out of college, and I've always thought he had the tools to be a good NFL QB. Probably not elite caliber, but I think he's got a chance to be better than anything the Bills have had in the past 5 years or so.

So we signed a QB that the game hasn't slowed down for, has trouble making reads, and no confidence to throw anything more than checkdowns.

So basically a "best of both worlds" of our last 2 QB's.

Nice...

At least he gets a shot, and the front office isn't sitting around with their thumbs up their asses waiting for the off-season or next head coach to pull any triggers.

Jeff Littman is probably pulling his hair out.

Even if nothing comes of it, it looks like they are addressing the issues they are having as well as they can during the season. And to top that off, they are going after someone a little younger who may have untapped potential.

Having a few QB's on the roster that have some potential is somewhat attractive for any new HC

LOL, I would not be surprised if that was how he said it VERBATIM! Although, if that was the case, Brandon could have done a lot worse. I like the move. It's a low-risk, good potential type of move that we don't se a lot from our front office.

Is there a legit source on this? So far, Pro Football Talk is the only one I can find. No major media outlets have picked it up. Chris Brown commented on it as "unconfirmed" reports.

Brown is 100% a company man, so if he even acknowledges the rumor, there's a good chance it's true. But I wouldn't believe it until a major media outlet or the team's website reports it.
