God NoI remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

i'll be straight with you. No winning college football coach in D1-A will take an NFL job unless he's a moron or just a glutton for punishment.

Urban Myer and Pete Carroll both are making in excess of 5 mil a year in a job that will keep them for the rest of their lives as long as they want it. Who in their right mind wants to leave a situation like that?

No, because he's owned by Harbaugh.
Harbaugh is on $750K so quadrupling his salary brings a cheap, hungry and currently winning coach who has been taking on footballing powerhouses and winning.Comment

The reasons Pete Carroll wouldn't leave So Cal have already been given. He's practically the king of So Cal. His coaching styole seems not to translate that well to the NFL anyway.I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

Carroll was terrible with the Jets and he has a loaded roster at USC. It's in no way comparable to the parity he'd face in the NFL. No friggin way.
Plus, he'd be stupid to give up that cushy gig. USC is Los Angeles' pro football franchise. It's more glory and less pressure than he'd ever have in the NFL.Comment
