Heard Jerry Sullivan on WGR claim to have a source close to Shanahan... and he supposedly he told Jerry at the last game, that Shanahan was coming to listen to the Bill pitch... but won't come here.

Just passing along what i just heard...

I have a source that says Sullivan isn't a reliable source.

Sullivan can lick these nuts. He might secretly be HHurricane considering how negative he is all the time.

No one should be surprised by this if its true. Does anyone really think there is more than a 1% chance we get this guy?? Because there isn't.

Sullivan might want to check his sources because everything else points to him being here today or tomorrow

so hes going to waste his own time, and ours, by meeting for an interview?

yeah, ok...

It's just weird, that there is one guy out there, who is very close to Shanahan, who tells Sully that he's doing this all for leverage. Wonder why this "source" didn't tell this to anyone else and why he waited until Sunday to tell Sully in a Jacksonville press box. Seems fishy to me. It seems like, if Shanny comes here, we'll all be celebrating like we've just won something and everyone will be positive and if he doesn't come here, Sully will throw it back into our faces saying "told you so".

WTF is a person close to Shanahan doing covering a Jax/Bills game anyways?

DraftBoy

Maybe it is a leverage ploy then.

If true that's four coaches off the list;
Shanny
Cowher
Gruden
Shot

He doesn't need leverage. He'll get any job he wants.

You think Jerry is just going to give up full Personell control if Shanny isn't getting it offered elsewhere?

SquishDaFish

Cowher is not OFF the list. He just wont interview until after the season

I already posted this. I listened to and Jerry merely peculated that he wouldn't come. When asked more details, he said that Mike will listen but that the Bills would need to blow him away with an offer... We already knew that. Jerry went on to say that he doesn't see Ralph doing what it takes... and that's why its just Jerry speculating.

It isn't that Mike wont come, its that Jerry has no faith in Ralph... very different.

Read Carucci's article.

1. He says Holmgren was contacted, but blew off the Bills (for now, anyway).

2. He says that Shanny wants something like $10M per year for 5 years, and possibly a piece of the team. And Ralph is willing to talk about it.

That being said, I think Shanny is coming in for leverage. If the Bills offer is fair superior to anything else he could get, he probably will take it. If not, he'll use it as leverage and say "hey, I'm getting offered $10M per year for 5 years and a piece of the action... beat that!"

Cowher is NOT coming. Don't waste your prayer time. Shanahan is a possibility, still less than likely, but still a legit shot.

This is in the Rumors at ESPN:

The Cowher talk can likely be shelved for now, as a league source told the Buffalo News (http://www.buffalonews.com/452/story/871591.html) that Cowher will wait until the season ends to weigh his options. It's interesting to note the source's other report, that the Bills told Cowher a $10 million yearly salary was possible. We're sure there are several high-profile names that would be amenable to that salary.

For all you guys saying so and so isn't an option or that they won't give the bills a chance. you are just another fan that doesn't know jack ****. take it for what it's worth.

Who woulda thought that we would've EVER landed a name like Terrell Owens? Little ol' struggling Buffalo gets one of the most infamous WR in the league.

Similar situation.

There's available coaches, doesn't always mean we'll get totally overlooked.

Besides, if Ralph offers enough cash, they'll take the challenge. It would show the quality of a former coach to come into a decrepit franchise and turn it around.

Like I said it's not happening. Ironically all of the mismanagement will be our own undoing.

I personally think if Ralph thinks Shanahan is his only shot at landing a big time coach... he's going to offer him everything including the kitchen sink.

It's interesting at least. If the Bills were smart, most of the legwork on this would be done in secret. Whether that's really happening is anyone's guess.

That being said, I'll believe it when I see it.

Tim Graham, of ESPN.com (http://www.billszone.com/link/269), reports former NFL (http://www.billszone.com/team/77/nfl) head coach Mike Shanahan (http://www.billszone.com/player/1964/nfl) has accepted an invitation to meet with the Buffalo Bills (http://www.billszone.com/team/9/nfl) about their vacancy at head coach.

I have an undisclosed source who knows what football is. And he told me that football is a sport and sometimes guys take a job called "head coach" when they're offered money.

And I guess this Mike Shanahan used to be a "coach"

Don't quote me on that.

If MS is going to interview he's interested in the job. That is a good sign. If we sign him for $12M and turn over control of football operations and player personnel and don't offer any more administrative support I'm going to be very saddened.

Still, it'd be foolish to not at least hear what we're offering, I mean why not? Chances are, if we offer to make Shanahan the highest paid coach in the NFL, he will come here. Which would actually be smart, we need to spend the bucks on our front office, guys who have proven to be winners over time, guys who can develop talent and keep the good players coming. Once that starts to happen, free agent players will want to play for our coach at a discount price.

why is a hometown discount always required to play in bflo?

I absolutely love your passion man. I hope Shanahan gets done too but the closer we go to the "meeting" the more reporters are saying no way it will happen. Ross Tucker, a former Bill was on the Jim Rome radio show this morning and said Bills will get a solid coach but not any of the ones mentioned... Cowher, Gruden, Marty or Shanahan. I don't know, i hope it happens. It's so funny that it's been so bad around here for so long that we rely on rumors from the comment section. LOL
