View Full Version : Shanahan was indeed offered part of the team.

Without divulging sources I was able to confirm that Shanahan was definately offered part of the team. I was told that this move is part of a long term plan to help Wilson avoid estate tax issues.

Wilson has been very smart in depreciating players and I do give him credit for doing a good job, personally, of managing the net income of this team to his own benefit.

I have now gone from not believing that Shanahan would ever come here to believing that ownership has to be the best offer that he could possibly get.

No other team is going to offer ownership. PS. I heard it was in the 10% range!!!!!

It sucks that we cant be like Green Bay and have the fans own the team. I like Shanahan but what has he done for us to deserve 10 percent of our team ? Give him money and thats it.

LOL I didn't know HH and Ralph were that tight.

Ralph can avoid estate taxes by leaving the team to his wife. She's much younger and in excellent health. When she dies, ideally by that time the team will have been sold to someone else.

Without going to deep into the fact that this post is solid crap it does bring up a question. Can an owner actually give part of a team as an incentive? Wouldn't this need to be approved by the other owners?

Without divulging confidential sources I have been able to determine that HH is kookoo.

LOL just goofin wid ya HH... But seriuosly in atlanta GA, how do you have a better source than folks plugged into the team at the local level and sports media whos job it is to dig into everything like a mole at a tulip patch?

I hope you are right though and your SOURCE is not drunk on a bar stool somewhere :)

10 %? The Bills are worth, what, roughly 400 million or so? So, he'd be willing to give him 10 mill a year plus 40 million worth of the team?

There are no estate tax issues for fiscal 2010, according to a lawyer I met with recently.

Apparently the lawyer is correct...

http://www.savewealth.com/planning/estate/taxes/

With the Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997 (http://www.savewealth.com/planning/estate/tra97.html) and the Tax Relief Act of 2001, the Estate Tax Credit has gradually been increasing. At the same time, the top tax rate will be decreasing until 2010, when estate and gift taxes are fully repealed. However, in 2011, estate taxes return to their 2002 levels.

Yes, currently there are no estate taxes for 2010. The problems are a) Ralph would have die in 2010 and b) the Dems will reverse it, because all they want to do it tax and spend us into debt and failure.

Sorry, got a little political there.

10% is about a 100 million, plus his 50 million dollar salary, yeah so that's 150 million. You must work for Buffalo's front office HHURRICANE, I don't buy that bull**** you rotten little spammer.

As I have said many a time I post it for your benefit. I don't need to defend myself or prove who I know or more importantly...why.

For you math geniuses 10% of the team is 75 million and maybe less depending on how the team is valued. I don't have the contract sitting in front of me so i don't know how it's structured, etc.

As for the estate issue, Ralph's wife doesn't pay taxes if Ralph dies no matter what year he dies in. However, when she sells the team she will be paying plenty.

Giving Shanahan part of the team is a win/win assuming he's as good as everyone here thinks.

Enjoy the info or trash it.

The team is valued at 909 million currently.

I seriously doubt Ralphie offered up a 50 million dollars cash + 91 million stake ownership for one coach. Especially if said coach ends up being a HUGE failure.

If he did, Shanahan is an idiot for not accepting it.

In fact, I could see him and Cowher both wanting the job... no other offer will be as good.
