All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
i wonder what big names will be FA . I think there will be 1 or 2 big surprises that nobody has even mentioned . Any predictions or if you here anything please post it. thanks
Well, Griese will be an obvious one. Rumors have it he's already got his contract and will sign it as soon as the league registers Denver's waiver. He's scheduled for mini camp workouts woth the fins this upcoming week.
This season, there will be not many big name cuts. With the Sal cap going up so much lke it did, and teams generally getting thehandle on their cap situations, there won't be the big cuts seen in the past.
Look for teams without a lot of room under the cap to sign draft picks - they are the ones who will do the majority of the slashing tomorrow

Please, no more aging, ineffective Titans players of whom Williams is so overly enamored.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

Leave it to Arizona -
They already had a ton of room, fail to resign Boston and Plummer, 2 of their best players, and fail to nab a big FA themselves- (Spikes, Seau, Adams, and so on....)
They and the Bengals are the most inept in football. But at least the Bengals are trying this year.

Indeed JR, indeed!!! I don't think we will. But I do agree w/ BFIM that there's always one surprise. And Dozer makes a good point as well to counter. Free Agency has begun to set into a steady-state which means the odds of teams finding themselves in cap binds every year goes down as the cap increases and as they finally begin to learn to effectively manage it to provide some element of chemistry to their teams.
There also appears to be more of a shift to "show me" contracts which include incentive clauses (such as for Adams) in which players are no longer simply given big bucks in last ditch efforts to try and sign them so that teams don't think they are losing out. There will still be that, but it's being mitigated every year now.
Of course the NFLPA will find some way to disturb the peacefulness of the new steady-state of team/player relations in the NFL.
I'm still thinkin' that there will be a surprise or two, possibly not from some team that HAS to cut a player for cap purposes, but perhaps by a team that simply feels as if they are overpaying someone even though they may not need the cap relief. JR was such a cut earlier. Actually, he was kind of both, but the consensus was that he wasn't worth the bucks he was getting paid.
Replace Donahoe with Modrak and fire the entire coaching staff!

Jason Seahorn was cut already, there might be others out there. Keep an eye on the Colts /Browns/ Steelers
Read somewhere think it was kffl that QB Jonathon Beasly from Jacksonville was released or will be released.. And possibly Mushin Muhammed from Carolina..
