Other than acknowledging him as the financial hero who rescued the Sabres from the Simon Legree of extinction, I'm no expert on Tom Golisano other than I know he pops up to do political combat with George Pataki and the Democrats every four years.
Nevertheless, there seems to be an obvious scouting report on our billionaire good neighbor from Rochester that should go a long way toward explaining why he decided to retain Darcy Regier and Lindy Ruff to run his hockey operation for the foreseeable future.
