Those that know former Pittsburgh coach Bill Cowher say he now is gearing up to return to the NFL next season. Cowher is mentally preparing himself to return to coaching and contemplating how he would structure his organization, according to those that know him. With a return on the horizon, many around the league believe the most logical landing spot, by far, is the Carolina Panthers, where speculation is mounting that Panthers coach John Fox is on the endangered list. Of course, Fox has been there before and always has done what he could to keep his job. But this time, the Panthers have a newly hired president, Danny Morrison, who has no ties or connections to anyone in the organization other than Jerry Richardson. A source connected to the Panthers source said he expects the team to pursue Cowher, who lives in North Carolina and has been waiting for the ideal opportunity to return to coaching.

No worries Shelby:

1) He isn't the only fish in the sea
2) Carolina hasn't fired there HC yet
3) Cowher may not feel the FO will do whats necessary to get serious
4) He may not want to be under a GM
5) They may not offer him enough control
6) They may not offer as much money
7) They don't have a QB either

Really, the only thing they have over us is location... and that could be huge or make up for other negatives... I cant read his mind... but neither can Shefter.

When Shanahan, Cowher, Gruden, Dungy, Holmgren, and Shotty all have gigs elsewhere, and we have a new guy who isn't any of them, I will be frustrated.
