Winger Mike Grier will miss tonight's game against the New Jersey Devils and could be out even longer because his mother is ill. Grier has left the team to be with her.

"We'll give him as much time as he needs," said coach Lindy Ruff.

That means the line of Grier with Tim Kennedy and Thomas Vanek will be broken up and Ruff flipped lots of things around this morning.

Derek Roy was between Jason Pominville and Jochen Hecht. Tim Connolly was between Vanek and Drew Stafford. Kennedy was joined by Clark MacArthur and Patrick Kaleta while Matt Ellis centered Adam Mair and Nathan Paetsch.

Gaustad's still out too, right? There goes a good portion of the toughness... It's nery noticeable when one or both of these guys don't play.

Yeah the team gets all 'Pominville' when they aren't in. Pominville is another word for soft.

I can deal with a soft player who buries the puck, like Briere was for us. I can't deal with a soft player who doesn't show up on the score sheet either.
