    His penalty for a second drunk-driving offense was nine days in the Fayetteville, Ark., city jail. Behind bars, Ken Hamlin had lots of time to think about his decisions.

    He told himself he would never be in this predicament again, and he wrote an emotional letter to his college coach, Arkansas' Houston Nutt, asking to be reinstated to the team after he had served his time
