did april fools (fewells) get moved up this year? Unless the FO is attempting to protect every young player from catching the suck factor, this is unbelievable.

Good season Byrd man. Get healthy, stay motivated. Get better.

He now knows he has the talent. He's got confidence. If he goes the distance in the off season we could have a superstar.

Thanks Byrd!!

Dude has been hurt the last several weeks and only playing part time. No sense to risk further injury. I thought we wanted a better draft pick?

how is it ****ing possible that we have so many people on IR?

And why do we sign a ****ty LB to replace a good S? That makes zero sense.

Steroid Stamer will probably be our best LB, other than Poz. haha.

Better question, who the hell are the safeties besides Whitner and Wilson? With Scott out, Byrd out, who the hell is left? Wendling? :ill:

Injuries are a function of conditioning and random luck.

this many years with this many injuries, we need to address conditioning. We'll still have the random breaks and tears that are unavoidable, but we need to cut down the injuries that are avoidable.

We need to get bigger players on the front 7 so our safeties and DB's don't get killed in run support injuries, and we need to condition strength so that the OL doesn't get these having been overpowered injuries.

Injuries are part of the game, but living and dying off your practice squad is not normal for a decent NFL team.

Couldn't have said this any better myself. Fire all those mother f*uckers in charge of the strength and conditioning. I understand that injuries are a part of the game...but has ANY team in the league been as injured as us over the past few seasons? NO so something haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas to change here

It makes sense, as we can shift Scott (if he's healthy) back to S or even use Todd Johnson at S. It's not like we had a low stock of Safeties on the roster.

Starting safeties will be Wilson and Whitner... I believe Wendling is the only other healthy safety we have.

No reason to risk anything. He's more important to us in the future then now so shut him down. There's only 2 games left so its not like we have something to play for.

He was one of the few (if not the only) reasons to watch this team play in the last two games.

Why was Byrd playing in the first place? Fewell let the kid risk bigger injury so he can look better in a playoff run? That's the way I see it. Byrd should have been shutdown long ago. Fewell thought he may have a prayer at becoming full time coach and risked it all. What a joke this has all become.

He has been injured since the beginning of the season if Im correct.

We shouldnt have to worry about it though, our LBers and Safeties are interchangeable anyway.

Which leads to our injury issues. When you are playing undersized across the board you are bound to get a series of injuries. That is my determination for most of them. You can only taking an NFL pounding for so long. Doing that undersized... IR.

this is good, no need for him to aggravate his groin in pointless games. See you in 2010 Byrdman

Is this a good week to take Atlanta in the survivor pool?

While we're at it, let's bring back:

QB: Brian McClure
LB: Hal Gardner
DE: Mark Pike
TE: Mitch Frerotte
G: Joe Panos
RB: Robb Riddick
CB: Marlon Kerner (His knee's probably healed by now)
DT Lauvale Sape

I'm sure a couple guys that filled in as scab players during the '87 Strike would be willing to come back too!

Our strength and conditioning coach is the Rusty Jones NEVER had this kind of a problem. Year after year after year of 1/4 of the roster gettinginjured for the season. Tell me of another team that has this happen every year. I'm sick of this.

the kid is hurt. he said he's been playing at 80% all year. why is anyone questioning this?

Throne Logic

Most of the injuries are on defense. Considering our defense has been on the field for somewhere in the neighborhood of 120 more plays than the offense, this is not too shocking. That's a whole lot more opportunity to get worn down and that many more chances to get injured on a play.

which is what the next HC / GM is going to have to fix... which translates into some serious offseason changes, and the beginning of another rebuilding period.

Amazingly though.. Our D this year has kept us in most games even with its craptastic run D and complete inability to get consistent pressure on opposing QB's. SO even with all of our injuries and weird player position transistions we have witenessed this year, our D was surprisingly stout in the points allowed area.
