    Kiper Re-grades the 2009 draft

    Buffalo Bills (Spring grade: B+)
No question Aaron Maybin has underperformed after a late start. Oddly, though, erase the disappointment of that pick and this group looks good. Eric Wood started before he was hurt, and Andy Levitre is starting. Jairus Byrd looks like a good one. Shawn Nelson is starting. Nic Harris could develop. I'll drop the grade because Maybin has disappointed, but depth is there, and that many starts out of any group is impressive.
    Current Grade: B

Mel Kiper re-evaluates his initial 2009 NFL draft grades. His thoughts (among many): the Packers, Pats, Ravens and Niners look good, the Raiders still look awful and this season's darlings -- Colts and Saints -- didn't draft well.

Does he have the same impact on Buffalo?

Or is he standing on the sidelines because Buffalo still has the same inept coaches?

I'm going with the second choice.

considering Byrd only saw the field when we lost our starting 2 safeties i'm with you on this . they had Byrd on the team and he never would have played had those injuries not happened.

          that is inept coaching.

DJ could've had Peyton Manning and LT and turned them into Ryan Leaf and Ron Dayne.

That's not true. Wood, Levitre and Nelson all started against NE in the first game.

i wonder how kiper regraded the 2006 bills draft. whitner, mccargo, simpson, and a promising youboty all hoping to see the field.and kyle williams playing ok.

but as we know now, whitner and mccargo, busts, simpson super bust, and youboty, if he played more than 6 games, he might be eligible to be considered as a bust based on play. Instead we call him a bust because he just never got on the field.

Nelson only started after Schouman AND Fine were injured.

Bryd may only have been taken out of the starting lineup because Bryd was injured. You are kidding yourselves if yall think Orakpo wouldn't forced his way on the field somewhere. And for another thing, he signed right out of the gates and reported for everything.

I think Shouman would have been better this year, but now Nelson has got himself some significant experience and I believe this will benefit the Bills more in the long run.

It doesn't really matter if you get a start because of injury. A start is a start. Think about it, why did Tom Brady get his first start?
