I think it is definitley the most enticing job, that could possibly become vacant.

However, they'd have to eat a ton of Lovie's remaining years, plus pay Shanahan top dollar. Don't think it'll happen.

New this along seeing he's from the area, went to school at Illionoise, and Cutler is the qb.

They need to get rid of both Smith (who took them to the SB not so long ago) and Angelo to make this even possible.

I'm not convinced the Bears will be in the mix.

How much hype do his people have to throw out there to try and drive his price up? GD

If I were all of you I would just mentally write off Shanahan from any Bills equation and focus your efforts and enthusiasm towards other possibilities

I think you're probably right tbh Pat. The only thing I think that could be happening in this regard though, is that since the Bills actually made serious contact with Shanahan, he's now being linked with just about any potential HC gig.
For reasons outlined earlier in this thread, I'd be a little surprised if he did go to the Bears, as they can be as parsimonious as just about anyone else, and you get the impression that it wouldn't just be Lovie who would have to go for this to happen.

How could Shanahan possibly want to coach the Bears? Cutler has proven to be a disaster and the Bears have nowhere near the weapons the Broncos did. And their defense is bad and will take a lot to overhaul.

I still see him in Dallas.

Washington is his landing spot.

Jim Haslett or Russ Grimm...welcome to Buffalo.

Just read that he's from Chicago. That would be the only reason (albeit it a huge one) I could see him going there.

He's from the area and I imagine Cutler will go back to his Denver level if he takes the job

Lot's of good reasons that make it a good fit for him. One thing is for sure, Mike Shanahan isn't coming to the mess that is the Buffalo Bills.

Grimm would be awesome. Either way we still need a football guy in the front office.

Come on, really?? Proven to be a disaster? After one bad season? Come on, man.

Your perspective on QB's is proving to be consistantly ******ed.

You're right, one bad season spells a players career.

I am right. Cutler has been a head case for years. But hey, maybe he'll get over being the worst redzone QB in the NFL over the last few years and prove you correct.

Why would he not???
He is very familiar with Jay Cutler and made Jay the player he is. Cutler is in a very ****ty situation right now with no weapons. He will be fine in the future. Chicago will draft there offense around Cutler.
