GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Veteran running back Lamar Smith was signed on Monday by the Green Bay Packers.
The Packers also signed former Arena League player Antonio Chatman, who is primarily a wide receiver and kick returner.
The 5-11, 230-pound Smith has rushed for 4,792 yards with Seattle, Miami and Carolina since 1994.
He started 11 games for the Panthers in 2002 and led the team with 737 yards rushing and seven touchdowns on 209 carries. But he was released last March, three months after being placed on paid leave following a drunken driving arrest.
