MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (AP)—
Washington Redskins defensive tackle Jermaine Haley was arrested over Memorial Day weekend on charges of driving drunk.
Haley, who left the Miami Dolphins to sign with the Redskins last month, was accused on Sunday of driving under the influence and causing property damage.
His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, did not return a phone call seeking comment.
Haley was pulled over in the South Beach section of the city after two police officers saw him swerve into the other lane, hit a 1995 Honda and didn't stop, according to a police report.
When the officers pulled Haley over, his speech was slurred, he smelled of alcohol and he nearly fell when he got out of his black Land Rover, the report said.
"I had a few drinks, but I'm not DUI," Haley told police, the report said. Haley also denied hitting the other vehicle.
