So much for a thorough and prolonged GM search.
Obviously didnt interview ANYONE else for the GM spot, especially a candidate currently with another team.

Couldnt they have named Nix GM in mid January if they didnt find someone else? Was there a demand out there for Nix for GM and we had to beat other teams to the punch?''

They BETTER have a plan in tact already that goes deeper than this move.

I heard they interviewed three candidates. ALL in house. Ridiculous.

Modrak and Guy were also interviewed according to one of the links someone provided, but no one outside the organization has been mentioned yet.

probably wanted to expedite it so we can go after a coach quicker. its harder to go after coaches when they dont have a clue who they would be working with. not sure how i feel about rushing this all

yeah.
Does that constitute a thorough search?

To me this reeks of a year ago, when they simply changed titles when mouthpeice Marv "retired"

The only way that I could accept this is if Nix was responsible for the 2009 draft, the best draft we have had since 2001.

But we are never told who actually is in charge. I like Nix but if they didn't look at anyone else OUTSIDE I will be angry.

the only way that this will fly is if it was the only way to get shotty out of retirement for a few years. i think this solidifies NO cowher. and honestly i wouldnt be surprised if charlie weis was already hired and that nix has been hired understanding that. i really hope that nix a man that while being an elite talent evaluator has never made a head coaching hire isnt in charge of it, other wise you can probably guarantee another coordinator that has never coached before or a guy that has been fired once or 2wice in the past from a head coaching position and has a ridiculously loosing record.

Im not ready to say Ralph wont spend money and fire it away at a head coach, but like I said, this reeks of one year ago.

Extensive GM search my ass

Like i said to my cousin. "I will believe it when it happens"

Guess this will quiet down the Cowher chatter as well.

It's the same old for years. Not just this decade. And all of a sudden people jump on the wagon that Ralph woke up wanting to be a winner and will spend money. I seriously just can't help but laugh at all those people who bought into it. The older people get, the more stubborn they get. Nothing has changed. He doesn't care about winning.

this is fu+cking ridicilous. I don't cxare what drafts he "oversaw"....mother F'er is 70 years old.

Only thing that can save this is if they announce Cowher is coach on Monday.

wow.

I can not believe what I just read. The other "2" were Modrak and Guy.

UNREAL.

It would only have been that much worse if the nimrods had conducted a thorough search.

I still think he is willing to spend the money on a coach. Cheaper GM = more money for coach.

I was thinking of changing my name, but seeing how they are doing more of the same it looks like I'll be keeping it for a long while.

Who didn't see this coming when they hired Buddy off the bread line, after the fool Chargers dumped him as a scout?

Have they all gotten taken one report and ran with it?

It just seems a bit bigger than Nix.

Dont get me wrong, Im excited about Nix who may mean Modrak and Guy get the boot.

Also has ties to Cowher.
