There is no need to announce Nix as GM on Thursday Dec 31st, in season still.

I highly doubt teams were beating down Nix's door for a GM job.

And since it's widely known the team wanted a GM in place before going after a coach, this tells me that they must be planning a quick strike on some head coach, having Nix in place before the season is over.

Nix has no ties to Haslett (well Haslett as a coach)...I bet it could be Shotty.

No, I had no clue this was coming.

I was in Williamsville doing a story on a high school two sport star, and now I've went to my sister's house in Tonawanda. I"m not going to make it to Orchard Park in time.

I'm still confident in Bill Cowher to Buffalo. It is a longshot, but the latest developments have in no way HURT our chances. Nix is a good GM to work with in my opinion. He would let a coach like Cowher give the final say. And spending less on a GM makes it easier to spend the big bucks on a coach like Cowher.

I won't lose faith just yet.

Dunno.

But something has to happen with a coach early next week.. I cant fathom why they would promote Nix without even so much as interviewing a lot of these up and coming hot shots from around the league, unless they have a second part of the puzzle already firmly into focus and didnt want to waste time talking to others about a front office job.

charlie weis is our new coach. watch and see. and you can almost guarantee if we miss on clausen we will be giving away our 2nd or 3rd round pick for quinn. i am speculating but honestly they know after the Nix hire they cant bring in haslett or frazier. weis might not go over as well but at least he is an elite offensive mind which is what the front office said they set out to get, and he does have some nice D coordinator friends.

He hasn't been hired. At least not yet.

you said yourself they wanted a GM in place before they got a coach. This is just the first step it doesn't neccesarily mean they are going to jump too fast at a coach unless they get a guy they really want.
