I actually like his attitude.

He's pretty much saying, "I don't care about all that marketing crap. I'm here to win football games and focus on being good at football and bringing in the right personnel."

I like him better than Modrak. Just my opinion. He better bring in a good coach!!!

I dont know why everyone is disappointed by this. This is a solid football person. He has drafted well and has been a key in SD.

It's a new position for Nix so we don't really know what he can do. But this is the top of the career ladder for him and he's done well getting players. I'm happy with this and can't wait to see where it goes.

Listening to his press conference makes me want to puke. "Nobody has ever accused me of being smart", "I'm not the brightest guy in the room". He sounds like a complete hillbilly with NO confidence. Good God, I am scared. We promote the guy who has been overseeing the mediocrity for the last few years to President/CEO, then we promote from within for GM. So much for a new regime and new direction. F$&K ME!

Wait wasn't he only back in Buffalo for a year or two?

He was talking about how he's going to interact with the media and how he doesn't give a rats ass what anyone on a message board says.

The CEO of the team will worry about things from more of a $$$ perspective. That is all. He was "promoted" simply because ralph wants one guy who answers to him, and not 2 (the money guy + the football guy)

How about now?

Number of San Diego Chargers Pro Bowl Players drafted under Nix:

2004 3 Pro Bowlers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_Pro_Bowl)
2005 6 Pro Bowlers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_Pro_Bowl)
2006 11 Pro Bowlers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_Pro_Bowl)
2007 8 Pro Bowlers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_Pro_Bowl)

I'm worried...this guy made a ton of excuses and didn't guarantee that Guy and/or Modrak will be relieved of their positions. We NEED to clean out the personnel dept and this hire doesn't do that.

Something Wilson has been trying to do since he hired Donahoe.

It is a culture change that is needed at OBD. They better be bringing in one hell of a strong coach that brings a winning attitude or it's more of the same. Change for the sake of change, but the same attitude, gets us no where.

I for one came away impressed after his press conference. The dude is old, surely, southern no nonsense guy. Says the injuries for 2-3 years are a concern, could be bad luck but will have to look at that (new strength and conditioning coach), wants great o and d lines, and experienced assistant coaches. Def think we will hire a previous headcoach. Anyone and I mean anyone but haslett is fine.

Thank God I am not up for the job then.

I heard a guy that sounded like a moron, spoke with little confidence, and made excuses in his first press conference.

That is what I got out of it. I am not going to give him any passes though. He must get a good coach and have a good draft.
