Bills did look for top GM candidates outside the organization through all the channels and everyone we wanted turned us down so we hired Nix.

This will make some happy and some not.

Did they put an ad on craiglist? This is insulting.

Interesting. Wonder why so many people would reject such a stable organization for? I'm not sure i believe it though that nobody even came for an interview if they asked people.

Clayton named some guy who was agent or something for many of the top GM candidates. Said Buffalo was willing to pay top dollar but no one wanted this job.

Clayton enjoys hearing himself talk.

John Clayton has about as much cred as my left testicle. And, while my testicle knows some people, it's not really worth listening to.

Clayton said Cowher not coming, no way. He loves saying that by the way.

Said Cowher would rather stay in broadcasting than take the Bills job.

Mentioned we will be looking at coaches like Trestman, Weis, and Ron Rivera.

Yeah....basically he said that Cowher will be going to Tampa or staying in broadcasting.....

Clayton also said there is a chance we could talk Marty out of retirement.

Having people turn down the Bills is certainly believable, no matter who's reporting it.

Sounds about right. Bills fans welcome your new head coach Charlie Weiss

Sounds to me like John Clayton is just being realistic. A big time coach in Buffalo? Highly doubtful.

how does he know?

If he knew so much, he'd have a clue that the Nix thing was coming, he is clueless to the bills just like the rest of us

Looks like Marty or bust! Get him in here and let's kick some of these soft players to the curb.

As many media guys do, Clayton (intentionally) speaks in a way that makes him sound like he knows something you don't, and he's proven time and time again that's not the case..

I think Mort has a better inside track on the Bills than Clayton..

This is true, NOBODY saw this coming. A lot of us figured we'd go the cheap way, but NOT this cheap.

If I had to bet right now I would put money on Brian Schottenheimer. I really hope that doesn't happen but here's why

a.Marty Not Coming back
b Nix good friends with Marty
c Bills want Offensive Mind
d He would take job which seems to be important round here

i'd actually really like Rivera, the man is extremely smart. He was the conductor of two great defenses but using a completely different base formation. That's impressive.

Who knows if this is true or not. I think Clayton gives a lot of opinion that he makes sounds like fact. If it is true then Ralphs medling ways have finally caught up with him.

you're right building one of the best teams in the NFL and drafting the first Bills rookie to go to the pro bowl in 25 years is cheap.

Other than your sensitivity to Buffalo being bashed, I don't understand why it is hard for people to believe this. Wilson is an old, doddering, meddling owner in the same mold as Al Davis. He has run too many good people out of town for one reason or another. With Ralph teetering on the brink of ashes, most people don't view this as a stable organization, Sal's source excepted.
