I have to admit to being a bit befuddled about the Drury pick *shrug*.....I understand he is supposed to be clutch, but I don't think his last 2 yrs of play warrant him being on the team....there wasn't anyone else available??

It's going to be nice to be able to root for Patrick Kane.

Team Canada is going to spank every team anyway.

LOL, like they did in 2006?

Canada as usual though, is the favorite, but even moreso this year when you consider that the tournament will be played on an NHL regulation sized rink, not an Olympic sized rink. The smaller rink benefits Canada and the US.

There has GOT to be someone better than Callahan to put on Team USA at forward

Callahan is 'decent', and at times, pretty good. I've seen a lot of him through Centre Ice Package and watching Sabres/Rangers. He definitely is no Pat Kane or Parise, though, and doesn't bring the faceoff skill and grit that Gaustad brings, so I don't know.

I think having Gaustad there to win key faceoffs would have been better. Drury certainly isn't playing like the player he was for us. I can't help but wonder if he is seriously starting to slow down. Of course it could just be the mediocrity of the NY Rangers.

This team has two of the best goalies in the NHL right now, unfortunately everyone around them sucks ass.

Ehh, Tim Thomas is pretty good but he definitely has his moments of lapse. It's a good thing we have Miller, because we don't need our starting goaltender letting goals in because he got out of his butterfly to whack an opposing forward who was bothering him (Hartnell). Miller needs to be in net for the big games. Thomas can handle the Latvias and Germany's.

And I disagree that everyone around them sucks ass. Our defense is gritty as hell. Kane, Parise, Kessel, Bobby Ryan, Stastny are sick as hell. Dustin Brown is a friggin beast who is one of the NHLs best hitters (and is also from Ithaca, NY). If you think the team in front of Miller and Thomas sucks ass, then I suggest you get Centre Ice Package and actually watch some of these players. You wouldn't then say that they suck ass. Parise is a top 3 forward in the game right now, for example.

My only questions are, why Drury (14pts in 36g, -8), or Callahan (19pts in 41g, -11)? Gaustad provides similar points-per-game, but is a plus player and is the league leader in faceoff %.

I know its very unlikely but I'd love the USA to somehow make a run into a medal game... I think it could help captivate the nation a little more as far as hockey goes. I'd love for hockey to get back on the main stage... it sucks that ESPN doesn't even mention anything about it anymore.

A Yashin sighting?

Kovalev and Yashin should NOT be on the team. Yashin might only be on because he's in the KHL, and the Russians obviously find it in their best interest to put KHL players on the team, because it promotes their league.
