There are a few good coaches on this staff (April, Studesville, Catalvaous). But his is a needed move.

I assume Perry is gone as well. Hope his interview is over with.

And if Chuck Lester is gone, it is an end of an era.

I do not think this is much of a surprise, if you listened to Buddy Nix he said he did not want to dictate any staff decisions to his new coach.

Personally I am not all that surprised by the move, but I thought they would let the new coach make the decision.

I also thought that they would keep April and let the new coach decide to keep him or not. I guess the Pats and Browns loss really got them mad.

The good thing about this is that the Bills aren't waiting around like they did with Jauron.

The day after the season ends, BAM! Fired everyone, starting with clean slate.

Love it.

Bring in Cowher.

Maybe the new coach is already in place(Cowher) and he told Nix get rid of all those losers

my opinion is guy is gone, modrak stays for cowher. if cowher isn't hired, modrak is gone. he is hired the next day by jacksonville.

Good, April needed to go. We got nothing on returns, allowed some large one and have had too many penalties in the last two years. If we had a nickel for every "illegal block in the back", we'd be millionaires and could hire Cowher.

i'm getting so pumped up right now. It's not like they can pick a coaching staff weaker and more inexperienced than last years? You can't get an OC any greener than AVP.

Perhaps we are finally bottoming out...

Injuries which caused player carousel affected every unit. Even at their worst, the ST was al least average.

I hope we bring in April back.

I'm beginning to think Perry's interview was more like an American Idol Audition. Perry walks in front of a table with Buddy Nix, Paula Abdul, and Ralph Wilson.

Perry: I'd like to show you some of my highlights from the 2009 season. I'm going to start with the Punt on 4th and 3 in Atlanta down by 10 in the first half.

Buddy: (puts his hand up) Ok, that's enough. let's review. Dawg, it just wasn't good enough for me. Keep trying. you have some skills there, but you need more experience.

Paula: (drunk) i really liked it. you have a lot of promise. And you have such a gentle heart. I'm going to say yes, but you have a long way to go.

Ralph (oddly british all of a sudden) I'm 90 years old. I've put up with this for a very long time. This is an insult to coaching that i even have to be in here. You'll never make it. Next!

Perry sobs at door with Ryan Seacrest and his family. After the break, Cowher wows the judges!

I'd like to see a more modern 90's era combination

I'm thinking of the new uni's they had in college this year for oregon, florida and osu.

they had old school color combos, not too many colors, but the pattern on the pants and jerseys...i like it alot. they were also the lightest uni's ever made.

imagine the uni's looking like a combination of florida and ohio state. blue and white socks, gray pants, blue jersey, red helmet.

Don't have a problem with this move, but I wouldn't mind if the new coach brought April back. We were one of the top 2 or 3 units in the NFL for most of his tenure. Prior to April, the Bills STs were always mediocre or worse.

But again, it's good to see Nix taking decisive action. I like it.

I could care less about ST. This team has had the best ST in the league for the past 10 years. What has it gotten the Bills? 1 winning season? No playoffs? I'd rather have mediocre ST and make the fugging playoffs.

I won't miss Bobby April. This is why we have McKelvin , Parrish, and a bunch of LBs that can play the LB position.

Levy empasizied special teams but all of the guys on special teams also started and could play on the field.

This is actually a classy move by the FO, imo. These guys were all likely to be looking for waork after the new coach is hired. This allows them ample time to go out and try to get on a staff w/another new coach.

Yeah, having the best ST in the league really got The Bills far over the past 10 years. Screw that. I hope this organization de-emphasizes ST and quits wasting roster spots on guys who can only play ST. A few guys like Tasker are fine, but you don't need a whole ST of rejects who are 3rd stringers, at best.

Maybe they felt that April did a poor job of adjusting to the new ST's rules that were implemented this year. I mean are ST's were suprisingly weak this year and we had a ton of penalties.

More likely though, I think if you're trying to bring in a new HC you have to clean house and let him choose who he wants. Maybe whoever the HC is will want to bring April back.

Demon
01-04-2010, 11:57 AM
I don't think anyone expected April back. When we passed him up for interm coach for Perry Fewell, you had to think he wouldn't want to return.

Nighthawk
01-04-2010, 12:45 PM
I've NEVER heard of an entire coaching staff being fired before a new HC was in place? Usually, since you never know if your new HC has any prior relations with current coaches, the move of relieving existing coaches is left up to the new HC. This move smells of something already being in place...or at least that's what I'm hoping for.

It appears new Bills (http://www.democratandchronicle.com/sports/bills)’ general manager Buddy Nix (http://www.democratandchronicle.com/article/20100101/SPORTS03/1010319/1021/sports03/Buffalo-Bills-promote-scout-Buddy-Nix-to-general-manager) has hit the ground running in his new position. The team informed all of its coaches that their obligations for the 2009 season have been completed and they are free to seek positions elsewhere, though they remain under contract.
The official status of each coach will be determined by the Bills' new head coach following the completion of the process, if they have not already found new work.

And even Tasker, considered a ST specialist, was actually a very good WR. But we were so deep there, he hardly ever got on the field as a receiver.

Buffalo’s front office wasted little time to make things clear to the current coaching staff at One Bills Drive. The team informed the staff that their obligations to the team for the 2009 season have been completed.

Each of the coaches though currently still under contract, have been informed that they have the opportunity to seek positions elsewhere. The official status of each coach will be determined by the Bills new head coach following the completion of the process, if they have not already found new work.

Perry Fewell remains a candidate for the position of Bills Head Coach along with a list of additional possible candidates.

April didn't do much this year.... I don't recall any kick/punt returns and I also recall a few dropped punts which cost us a few games....
