Just days before he was headed to trial on a drunken-driving charge, Minnesota Vikings executive Mike Kelly has agreed to plead guilty to a lesser charge of careless driving in connection with a Feb. 2 traffic stop near Lake Mille Lacs.
Under terms of an oral agreement reached Monday between Kelly's attorney and Mille Lacs County prosecutors, Kelly also will pay a $350 fine and undergo an alcohol-problem assessment.
The careless-driving offense will be dismissed from Kelly's driving record if he has no similar offenses in the next year, attorneys involved in the agreement said.
"I'm happy to have it behind me," Kelly said Monday.
