From NHL.com:
EDMONTON, Alberta (Ticker) - In celebration of their 25th season, the Edmonton Oilers will play the Montreal Canadiens in a regular-season game at 58,000-seat Commonwealth Stadium, an outdoor football facility.
The Oilers have dubbed the November 22 game "The Heritage Classic," which will be the centerpiece of a year-long celebration of their silver anniversary. November 22 also marks the 86th anniversary of the NHL, which was formed on that day in Montreal.
"We're turning back the clock for the Heritage Classic and giving fans the chance to relive hockey's golden heritage," Oilers president Patrick LaForge said. "It's going to be an unforgettable weekend for hockey fans everywhere."
A festival atmosphere will be created around the game with special events, live music and fireworks.
Fans also will be treated to an alumni game featuring Wayne Gretzky, who will wear an Edmonton jersey for the first time since 1988 as he leads a team of former Oilers against Guy Lafleaur and a club of former Canadiens.
This is going to be a great game. I can't wait to watch the alumni game with Gretzky, and company.
Hmmm, I wonder if they need someone to drive the Zamboni?
