It's about time. This was the one I figured would be done right away. Looks like Nix is using this week to interview the only two guys on his list from the 4 teams with a bye.

Grimm can't interview until the Cardinals are eliminated from the playoffs because they don't have a 1st round bye.

Here is the article, that I cannot publish until tonight. First look for Zoners

According to a source, the Buffalo Bills will interview San Diego defensive coordinator Ron Rivera as early as Friday. We first reported on January 2 that Rivera would be a candidate for the Bills head coaching position.

As Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reported Wednesday afternoon, the team is already in Minnesota to interview their defensive coordinator, Leslie Frazier on Thursday.

Rivera has been the Chargers’ defensive coordinator since the midpoint of the 2008 season and previously served in the same role with the Chicago Bears from 2004-06. Chicago went to the Super Bowl in ‘06 with a defense that ranked fifth in the NFL under his leadership.

Rivera, who was the first Puerto Rican to ever play in the NFL, was a linebacker with Chicago from 1984-92 and has been in coaching since 1997. He’ll turn 48 on Thursday.
As previously reported last Saturday, I’m told Nix is a strong admirer of the work Rivera’s done in San Diego and is a very realistic candidate for the job. The two have ties from when Nix worked there in scouting.

Bills fans hoping for nothing other than a big name coach like Bill Cowher, Marty Schottenheimer or Brian Billick shouldn’t automatically give up hope based on these interviews. The Bills are taking advantage of Minnesota and San Diego bye weeks to interview a pair of candidates they’re high on, but it doesn’t mean either will get hired.
Bills general manager Buddy Nix hinted strongly at his press conference last Thursday he’d look for a candidate with head coaching experience. While it’s not known how serious a candidate Frazier or Rivera are, Nix could be possibly searching for a Plan B if he can’t lure a more experienced coach of his choosing to Buffalo.

To date, Billick says he’s hasn’t been contacted by the Bills, while Schottenheimer says he remains "not likely" to coach again and Cowher speculation changes by the minute.
It was also expected Nix would hire a more offensive oriented coach. Clearly both Frazier and Rivera are defensive specialists.

But don’t think either is just a courtesy interview. The team already interviewed Perry Fewell to fulfill their Rooney Rule obligations.

At the very least, Nix is surrounding himself with options.

Out of the coordinators I like Rivera and Grimm the best.

Let me add this, I couldnt in the post because nobody cares about my opinion in a report.

But I do not think the Bills will hire either UNLESS they cant land the veteran coach they want (which we dont even know who the hell that could be right now)

NOT THE DUDE...

frazier and rivera interviews are simply options that nix is giving himself if they cant get marty or bill in here.... another wild card is harbaugh. imo if the bills cant get marty or bill then rivera will probably be the choice....

I would be fine with Ron Rivera. It's not a Cowher-or-bust situation for me, even though he is my No. 1 choice. There are certain assistants whom I would be more than happy with, and Rivera is perhaps at the forefront of that group.

Heard anything about Grimm?Rivera, like Frazier can interview this week because his team has a bye in the playoffs. Grimm can't interview until the Cardinals are knocked out since the Cardinals didn't have a bye. There won't be anything mentioned about Grimm if the Bills decide they've got their man before Arizona is eliminated. If the Bills don't hire someone before that happens, I still don't expect to hear any press statements from the Bills about Grimm until he's available for an interview.

Ok being serious, of all the coordinators, I think by far I like Rivera the most

I do too...especially after reading how he has done with that defense, hit hard by injuries. The fans love him!

If we are going to go the "first time NFL HC route", my preference is Jim Harbaugh. He is the biggest risk (never know how a college HC will translate to the NFL), but I also think he has the most potential to be a stud.

You cannot ignore what he has done for Stanford, the man has worked a minor miracle there, in my opinion.

Let's just hope he doesn't make Trent the starter, I couldn't live with that turd being my teams QB for another second. ;)

Agreed...I'd much rather give a proven college HC a chance then another coordinator. At least the college HC has some idea of what it takes to run the entire show.

Harbaugh was an NFL QB for 14 years, so it's not like he doesn't know the pros. He also was an offensive assistant on the Raiders' 2002 SB team.

He was one of my favorite QB's in the league, didn't have the most talent, but he was all balls and heart.

Think of Jim Kelly, without the same talent. (although Harbaugh was no slouch)

Harbaugh is my number one guy after Cowher. I just get a feeling about the guy that he's going to be a big winner in this league.

I'm okay with Grimm and Rivera. Frazier and Shotty leave me blah.

The Bflo News is all kinds of on Harbaugh's jock.

Sully and Allen Wilson are in love with him as coach.

I'm a West Coast guy (at least at this point in time) so I've seen what Harbaugh has done with the Stanford program in a short period of time. They were a mess when he got there and now they are in the upper half of the conference. He also worked wonders in San Diego. And I like that he doesn't back down from anyone (See this year's USC game).
