A good read from Brian Galliford about the HC search:

lthough the Buffalo Bills (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/BUF) are currently the only NFL team without a head coach, it appears that the candidate pool for the vacancy is drying up on new GM Buddy Nix. Bill Cowher remains at the top of the Bills' coaching list, and while reports from WGRZ-TV (http://www.wgrz.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=73324&catid=37) and NFL.com's Vic Carucci indicate that the Bills are still working hard to secure Cowher's services, a Cowher hiring does not appear imminent.

While the Bills have successfully interviewed one candidate, Perry Fewell, and are set to talk to another tomorrow in Minnesota assistant head coach/defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier, two other prominent names associated with the opening do not appear interested in the job. Jets (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/NYJ) offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer says he's happy in New York and has not been contacted (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/01/06/brian-schottenheimer-says-he-knows-nothing-about-the-bills-job/) regarding the job, though he also made it clear he'd listen to any offer that came his way. Meanwhile, Arizona assistant head coach/offensive line coach Russ Grimm is high on Buffalo's list and has been contacted regarding an interview, but to this point has not shown interest in the opening nor in interviewing with the team. That report comes via John Murphy at WIVB.com (http://www.wivb.com/dpp/sports/bills_and_nfl/bills/wivb-bills-ready-for-interviews).

I reckon if Grimm's not interested, and we know that Cowher and Billick aren't coming here, Frazier's the pick.

Ugh. Really?

We don't have to hire anyone right away. The whole point of making the moves we have during the season is to open up doors not slam them shut on our fingers.

Coaches not wanting to work for Ralph....shocking.

I told you guys that our owner is the biggest deterrent to getting a real coach in here. When Mike Mularkey slams the door on you than you know that you have issues.

The Buddy Nix hire pretty much sealed our fate.

Why has Nix sealed our fate?
I don't understand the negativity of the situation. We've all be clamoring for 4+ years about how bad Dick Jauron was, and now he's gone and we have a legitimate opportunity to turn the franchise around and everyone is being negative.

RW has his faults, but give the guy credit, he's built a successful franchise worth many millions of dollars.

IMO I don't think he's being cheap, it sounds like he's reached out to the People's Choice (Cowher) and he's not interested. I mean what more do you want? They've moved on to the list of people they've targeted as legitimate coaching candidates whom they would like to interview. Let's let the process work its way through and judge 2-3 years from now.

Im sure there are boatloads of coach's who will not go to Oakland and deal with Davis.

And we dont really know, maybe there are coaches who dont want to come here with our track record, a mess of an offense, not exactly the most aggressive teams on the trade and free agent markets, not to mention a 91 year old owner and not knowing the future of the franchise

Is this Mr. Wilson???

If the Bills were serious about making a big move it didn't start with Buddy Nix. Peter King already said that this hire alone made the coaching job less worthy. No coach wants a puppet GM which is exactly what Nix is. Another "yes man".

Why are Modrak and Guy still there??? Maybin, McKelvin, Poz, Whitner, Hardy, McCargo????

How can anyone say the candidate pool is thinning out?

We can't interview any coaches other than those on teams with bye weeks. Of those teams, we are interviewing Frazier and Rivera. Of the coaches they CAN inteview, they are interviewing both the top candidates. The Brian Scott and Grimm interviews CAN NOT be made until their team is eliminated. So what coach (Grimm, Brian Scott) in their right mind would start talking about coaching another team while they are preparing their team for a playoff game less than 3 days away?

Everyone needs to settle the **** down and let the process play out. I know we all want instant gratification after this ****ty season but there is a process. We are going through it, and it will likely last for a couple more weeks, if not more.

This is an NFL head coaching job. You better believe most coordinators would take it in a second. I don't believe for a second the King reports or the ****ty Buffalo-area news reports that someone the job lost it's luster or people aren't interested. This is just false.

There may be 32 jobs but they are not equal

and it sucks to say be the Bills job is viewed more like the Raiders job than it is the Cowboys job

BTW on the topic of this thread I completely disagree its thinning out. We can only really interview a handful of legit candidates right now because most of the better ones have games this week like Grimm
