BILLS FANS CAMPAIGNING FOR COWHER TO BE TEAM'S NEXT COACH

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. - Bring on Bill Cowher.

With the Bills in the midst of a coaching search, that's the message fans intend to send team owner Ralph Wilson on a billboard to be displayed in Buffalo.

Organizer Patrick Moran said Thursday an Internet campaign has raised more than the US$1,125 needed to rent an electronic billboard for a week, starting Monday. It would feature the words, "Dear Mr. Wilson, we want this guy," superimposed over a picture of Cowher.

I gave the Jauron billboard guy (Ryan) some of the media contacts and stuff, but I didn't really organize that, he deserves all the credit.

If they did that I'd say give all the money to Hunters Hope. Screw putting welcome Frazier on it when 90% of us would be pissed they hired him without doing more of a search. Either that or just have the billboard say **** You Too Ralph with a huge middle finger as the background.

The point of the thread was that I write for NFL.com and told the editors to get it running on the main page and they did. I could care less if TSN picked it up too, that wasn't the point.

I don't mind the billboard, or emails, or the Joe Logan hype, or any other pro-Cowher publicity. I want him here as much as anyone. But do we really think that Cowher will let any of this influence a life decision?

He can almost write his own ticket to any NFL head coaching job. I think his decision will be based on his compensation, level of control, quality and stability of the organization, its willingness to spend money on new players, and other factors that have little to do with slavish fan adoration.
