    Ravens' J. Lewis rushes to leadership goal line, too

    STAR PLAYERS usually don't attend voluntary practices, but Ravens running back Jamal Lewis participated in the first day of a four-day passing camp yesterday. That may not sound like a big deal, but it's a major development for this team.

    It's a signal that Lewis is accepting his new role as leader. Even more importantly, team officials believe Lewis is maturing, and all previous problems are behind him.

    "He has made some mistakes along the way, but he is learning from those mistakes," said Ravens coach Brian Billick. "You don't wish that on anybody, but it is part of the growth process. He has had to take on certain responsibilities not just for himself, but for his team as well."
