Panthers took the highly unusual step of allowing HC John Fox to void last year of contract. But no offers out there better than one he has.

I saw it on ESPN as well, didnt hear much, but he is correct. Fox has been given the opprotunity to void the last year of his contract.True fans want wins, not draft picks.

If we can't convince Cowher to come here, maybe we could talk to Fox and convince him to come here and bring his staff. Then Cowher can join the Panthers like he wants.

On the John Fox deal, he wouldn't void his deal unless a better offer came along. One hasn't. So for now he remains as the Panthers HC.

Fox isnt going anywhere without a nice long term deal.
But the fact the owner will allow him to void last year of the deal probably gives Cowher the motivation to have patience and wait to sit out until next year.

Wow, real scoop there Mort! The Panthers were obviously looking for Fox to either fulfill his contract, or void it so that they don't have to pay him for 2010. The only other option was a settlement, but the Panthers don't want to pay him say, half his salary for 2010, and then have to pay another coach for 2010 and beyond, especially if there's a lockout in 2011, like most fear.Comment

Did Schefter say the owner was willing to let him void the last year of his deal?
A settlement is one thing,b ut if the owner said he can void it, then you can say goobye to Cowher for sure.
