Minnesota (http://topics.sacbee.com/Minnesota/) Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier (http://topics.sacbee.com/Leslie+Frazier/) doesn't need the Rooney Rule to get a head coaching job.A former Chicago Bears defensive teammate of Mike Singletary (http://topics.sacbee.com/Mike+Singletary/) on the Super Bowl XX championship team, Frazier worked his way up the ranks as a defensive backs coach before becoming a highly regarded defensive coordinator in Minnesota. (http://topics.sacbee.com/Minnesota/)
He's said to be a leader of men with a high football IQ.
Look for Frazier to become the Buffalo Bills' new coach as soon as this week and for him to have a longer NFL coaching career than Pete Carroll (http://topics.sacbee.com/Pete+Carroll/) in Seattle. (http://topics.sacbee.com/Seattle/)

I wonder if this columnist has any info, maybe from Singletary or if he's just speculating?

I think they are just assuming. I don't think Nix will hire him before he interviews more guys.

I think this columnist, along with many others, and those on this message board, take for gospel, what they hear on PFT, Rotoworld, etc. etc. They have no clue, they just like to speculate, to fill space for their newspaper. blah blah

NOT THE DUDE...

one way or another, he is still on payroll of a team that is still in the playoffs, and until one of those two things change he wont be named anything.

If they hire this guy, I guarantee that there is AT LEAST 2 blackouts next season.

the more I know about Frazier the more ok I'd be with him as head coach...if we can't get Cowher, Shotty, Billick...etc.

Sac Bee covers the SF 49ers, and Mike Singletary, who's best friends with Frazier. So they may have a connection. Not sure if Singletary would give them the tip but it's possible.

To me, it just sounds like a logical guess, and nothing more than that. How can the Bills name Frazier the head coach this week? Minnesota hasn't even played yet, they can't!

Doubt it, likely just read ESPN saying he is the front runner and rolled with it.

Bottom line he is the front runner by default right now and if we really wanted him we likely would have hired him by now

We might not be able to Cowher or Marty Schott... but we probably can get Billick... and the Bills aren't even trying.
