lock him up, justa? watch your phrasing. Knowing the bills, they might just offer him a 3 year deal above market.

Here's a link to a report from ESPN and a blurb...

Former NFL star Bruce Smith has pleaded guilty to drunken driving in Virginia.

Smith was fined $1,000 and given a 90-day suspended sentence Thursday in a plea agreement with Virginia Beach prosecutors, who dropped charges of speeding and refusal to take a breath test.

Smith said he decided it was in his best interest to "take ownership" of his mistake. Smith's trial had been set for Thursday morning.

Smith said he decided it was in his best interest to "take ownership" of his mistake.

If he's going to take ownership... why the plea bargain? Just admit to it all.

I understand that.... but then he should just keep his mouth shut and not claim he's "taking ownership" if he's only going to admit to half of the charges.

Bruce is my all time favorite player for what he did on the field. I just wish he could get his head out of his ass off of the field.

its a spin factor everyone would do it..... what you think he be like ya i was drunk w/e doesn't want to hurt his image anymore then he has.

he might actually feel like he is taking ownership also even tho he took an obvious plea

I disagree in principle to what you are saying here. Smith did the right thing within the system the way it's designed. Anyone who refuses to cop a plea because they want to take responsibility for their actions is actually being taken advantage of by the legal system.

i bet it had something to do with him being drunk that the speeding ticket wasn't just a speeding ticket more like reckless driving

i really havent looked into it but im pretty sure if your drunk + speeding is different then speeding

but idk law just from little i have scene

I understand what you guys are saying... and I agree. I'm just saying that I think he should have kept his mouth shut or at least said something other than "claiming ownership" for his wrong behaviour.

claiming ownership almost 20 years after it was a problem is a little late, no?

20 years? Are we still talking about Bruce or have we switched to Ralph? (Smith was stopped last May and was just in court).

Bruce is just another SMUCK! A cop that used to go to my church pulled him over back in the 90's. He said that Smith just expected him not to give him a ticket because of he he was. Screw him....I hope he rots!

Sorry....I'm just a bit bitter toward the Bills franchise as a whole today!
