Chan Gailey Firing was Crucial For Chiefs Future
When the news broke that Chan Gailey had been fired a few weeks before the regular season started, many people were furious. Chan had turned Tyler Thigpen and the no name line into a legitimate offense that could score and keep the Chiefs in the game.
The initial thought from Haley and Pioli was that Gailey had turned chicken crap into chicken salad the previous year and when you threw in his previous resume, it seemed automatic to bring him back for another year. After he was fired, many people in the media still felt that way and they unloaded on Haley the entire season because of it. That was unfair and like most knee jerk reactions, it was premature.
