I've heard rumors that it is being reported, Clarence Shelmon is the favorite to join Gailey's staff as the offensive coordinator. He is currently the OC in San Diego.

Anyone else hear this? Or what are your thoughts?

why would you leave san diego for buffalo?

That would be a tremendous hire if true

Because he suspects we'll fire Gailey after 2-3 years and there's a decent chance he'll at least get an interview/maybe even be hired by the Bills to be head coach after that.

Someone told me it was reported on ESPN radio in the San Diego area. But I have been scanning the wire for the past half hour with no luck.

They said he has history with Nix and Gailey.

Does he do the playcalling???

San Diego can block the interview, because its a lateral move and not a promotional one. So they have to clear it first.

I'd like that a lot! Maybe Nix is pushing this as he spent time with Shelmon in San Diego?

Not with Norv Turner there, but he has worked with Emmitt & LT. He is a very highly regarded RB coach there and is currently the OC.

I'd love this move, I believe if we make him an assistant HC we could snag him.

OC + Assistant Coach can get around that?

that would be a great move, was he there to develop Rivers?
cause we need that more than anything a Cordinator who knows how to develop a franchise QB

Yes if they name him Asst HC then he would get around that.

What about if he is the OC/Asst HC, I believe that is a way around it?

I believe it's on ESPN insider as well.

Norv calls the plays. So this will be more on the job training in Buffalo.

they run a very complex offense no?

If Gailey can hire Shelmon and a solid DC like George Edwards, I might have a little bit of hope. If he hires Bates, it's bad news.

Exactly. Norv is the offensive coordinator for all intents and purposes in San Diego. One of the requirements a year or two ago from management was that Norv has to take complete reigns of the offense. So this is another Steve Fairchild move. A guy that never called plays before...

He has been the OC since 2007, when Cam Cameron left for Miami. Before that he was their RB coach, and has primarily been a RB coach in his career.

Wasn't San Diego 31st in the league in rushing this year?

If he can get us Merriman or LT, I will be a much bigger fan of this new coaching staff.

LT. Really? I'd rather he lure the left tackle mcneil than LT.

If we get one guy from SD, i want Malcom Floyd. The WR to replace Owens.
