People will debate the merits of Clausen long after he shakes the commissioner's hand, but he has continued to improve, showed toughness, has an NFL arm and perhaps most importantly, has experience under center in a pro-style offense. That was a key for Matthew Stafford and Mark Sanchez and is a huge consideration for scouts.

Not a fan of Clausen at this point myself. This guy was supposed to be All World coming out of high school. He was supposed to be the best QB prospect since John Elway. I don't think he's lived up to that.

I think you could be right if Jim Kelly has an influence on them. Jim is real big on "Teblow"

I really like that pick. Clausen has been well coached and has the arm and demeanor to go with it.

with our past.... we have to be looking for a QB every year now in the first 3 rounds till we find our guy, no stop gap washed up vet, and no bum form this roster is worth a damn, its time to get lucky as they say in the draft and take our guy, and then take another 1 next yr and the yr after somewhere between rd 1 and rd 3

I love Kiper's drafts, because each time he revises, that is one less player we will actually take. It really helps narrow it down for us fans.

So, we can cross Clausen off the list, because Kiper said we would take him.

I still don't like the QBs in this draft. I'd like us to take a LT, DT, and LB in the early rounds, a 2-3 year stop gap QB via trade or FA, and perhaps a project QB in the later rounds. I also think we need help at DE and WR, either in the draft or FA.

I'm not a hater... I'm just not a fan. My point is, if he didn't live up to the hype in college, why will he live up to the hype in the pros?

One other thing, name me ONE marquee win that Clausen was a part of at Notre Dame. I don't expect them to win every game, but they beat up on patsies the last two years... no marquee wins. It's just not impressive to me. They have all of those recruits and can only manage beating teams like Navy... and Syracuse? Oh... wait a minute.

Their D was weak, and the OL didn't come around until this season.

Clausen started slow, but clearly progressed in his 3 years. It might take a season or two, but I think he has it all, he just needs to work on his release.
