In the draft or no?

Yes

NOT THE DUDE...
01-21-2010, 12:16 PM
idk, i wouldnt have a problem with it. but i think buffalo is going to take a ot in rd 1 and then take a qb in rd 2

i think they will have a draft similar to what the dolphins had 2 years ago... build up the lines...

No we shouldn't get any QB w/ our 1st. We need O-line w/ our 1st pick.

LB McClain of Alabama or an OT.

YES unless they make a move for a QB in free agency or trade.

all QBs this year wont amount to squat in the NFL imo

No.

I'd like to see them get LT Bryan Bulaga in the first round.

McClain or OT at #9 and possibly trade back into the end of round 1 for a QB - Colt or Tebow (If Tebow looks good in the Senior Bowl and at the combine). Don't laugh at Tebow - Gailey made Kordell a good QB, Tebow is a better thrower, albeit not as fast of a runner.

LB McClain of Alabama or an OT.

I agree, especially if we move to a 3-4, we need to get badass LBers in here, and trade back in for Mt Cody or hope he falls to 2nd rd,

that being said i would have a hard time if claussen was there at 9, i like him alot and we so badly need a QB and could technically sign a vet LT and if u have wood levitre hangartner incognito and butler coming back, and we sign say Simmons as backup depth too on the cheap
then our Oline isnt as bad a shape as people think

Go D or go QB

At this early date, I think I want a vet QB of some sort in FA, and a LT at #9.

The jets are proving that with a great OL, you can get by with average QB play. Put a guy like Baluga next to Wood, Levitre & Incognito, and that's a very solid talent base. I think RT is something we can deal with, whether it be Butler or another vet.

I reserve the right to change my mind on Clausen once the Senior Bowl, combines etc take place. I think he's got the physical attributes, but I worry about his intangibles. Once I hear a little more about him, I might feel a little better (or even worse).

since we're all on the same page for the most part of who we should get, we're obviously going to draft a Safety

McClain is a sexy pick and my favorite choice behind Bradford & Clausen.

The 9th pick should get us an elite OT, LB, or DT that we can plug in immediately and fill a big hole. I'm not sure that there are any QBs in this class, including Clausen, that you can do that with.

In the draft or no?
HECK YES! That is our number one concern at this point, regardless of our o-line woes.

No way.
I'm an Irish fan and I'd love to see Jimmy do well in the NFL, but I just don't see it happening. He has skills but I'm not sure he has the maturity or fundamentals to make it in the NFL. Also, I believe he's from California, and we know how well qb's from Cali do in Buffalo....

If Clausen didn't have so much hype coming out of high school, I don't think we would be having this conversation. I don't see anything special or spectacular about his college career or talents that warrant a top 10 pick.

I've also heard that he's a pretty big a-hole and was not really liked by most people at ND. Obviously I don't know if this is true or not, but if it is, I don't really want a guy like that at the most critical leadership position.

I would rather see us draft McClain or an OT and give Brohm a shot at qb.

Please trade down! We need all the picks we can get!

im in agreement...i really think with a dominant line, either Edwards, Brohm or 2nd (or later) round pick such as Mccoy, Snead, or Tebow could do us allright.

As sad as it is to say, I want to model us after the Jets...dominant OL, dominant defense...they are allowing Sanchez to mature into a good QB, which is the way it should be done, IMO

No... Waste of money learning on his backside. #9 pick will be O-Line or D-Line or McClain. It will be either Davis (Rutgers) Baluga (Iowa) NT-Cody (Alabama) if switching to 3-4. Sleeper pick Carlos Dunlap DE-Florida. (Especially if Schobel retires) I think with Nix's specialty being the SEC, that the pick will come from either Florida or Alabama. Nix wants winners, where else do you start than the last 2 National Champs.

It will be nice to get guys from the SEC instead of Cal.

No thanks. Too many people are talking 'boom or bust' about Clausen for me to want to risk it. OT, DT or LB please, depending on who's available.
Gailey will be able to get production out of the QBs we have, providing the Line is sorted.
I'm not averse to bringing in a FA QB, but I don't think I'm too interested in any of the early draft ones, a possible exception being Bradford, but he would have to show serious fitness.
