Buffalo Bills owner Ralph C. Wilson Jr. thinks new head coach Chan Gailey is the man to turn around both his football team and its perennially miserable offense.

"The last few years we haven't been able to score from the 2-foot line," Wilson said today from his home in Michigan.

"Chan Gailey, I think, is going to be a good head coach," Wilson said. "We like him because he's had a lot of experience at being a head coach and as an assistant coach on the offensive side of the ball."

he sounds like a beligerant old fart.
and he sounds like he picked the guy who was willing to come, and was frustrated that no one wanted to be the coach

I didn't read it like that at all.

I think he was honest in saying there was a lot of speculation and it was mostly all pretty much BS. He might've liked Cowher and Shanahan, but it didn't work out - OH WELL - he got the guy not named Cowher or Shanahan that he thinks can turn the team around.

I'm not saying I agree, I'm just saying that's how I read it.

"We wanted someone who's been a head coach if we could get one," Wilson said.

He thought Moolarkey was a great coach too.

Yeah, I mean, there's not much here in this article. Obviously, Ralph waited a few days until the dust settled a little bit, and released his statements on Gailey going into the weekend. Fridays are traditionally the days in the media world where you release news that you want to get buried, because people are thinking about the weekend.

He said the usual "I'm not happy with the performance", "I want to see the team win as bad as the fans", "I think he'll do a good job" crap that we've been hearing since the Tom Donahoe and Gregg Williams hires. And then the Mike Mularkey hire. And then the Marv Levy hire. And then the Dick Jauron hire. And then the Buddy Nix hire. And then...

Technically speaking, he was the best one of the decade.

That was painful to read... how sad that it's true.

Someone should inform Ralph there is no such thing as a "2 ft line" in the NFL.

I don't care what RW does with the team. If he wants to drive it into the ground that's his perogative it's his team, his investment and his risk. But his constant old school business sugar coating of **** is unacceptable.
