By yards, sure. They're clearly a passing team.

Considering they had Tim Hightower (basically a short yardage back, receiving RB) and a rookie, I'd say that over 4 yards/carry and 16TDs is pretty damn good.

Hightower and Wells have been developing nicely actually. The stats are a reflection of the style of offense.

You left out that they also had the fewest attempts per game in the NFL

To put another spin on things let's compare the 2008 Cardinals, who were coached by a different RB coach then in 2009. Of course now it's open for debate if the RB coach was the reason for the improvement or 1st Round pick Beanie Wells.

Do you realize that both Wells and Hightower averaged over 4 yards a carry and that those guys only had 319 attempts combined where as Jackson and Lynch had 357?

When you attempt to run more, chances are good you will get more yards.

Bah, humbug.
Lies, damn lies, and statistics. ;)
It does pay sometimes to consider statistics outside of a vacuum, as proven by my learned researchers above. ;)

Tim Hightower in 2008: averaged 2.8 YPC
Tim Hightower in 2009: averaged 4.2 YPC

Can you honestly look at that and tell me that Modkins didn't help at all?

and Stephens-Howling. Looking at their rushing stats is so stupid. Arizona is a passing team, of course there rushing stats are terrible.

He won't even be calling the plays. Gailey wanted someone who would be content with learning the offense from watching him for at least this season. I have no problem with this signing.

So what, a lot of people wanted Reeves. Reeves wouldn't have even been calling the plays. So it wouldn't have mattered. Plus, Reeves can still come on in an offensive advisor role. He doesn't even really have to be on payroll to assist Gailey. He can just pass along advice.

Would all of these rushing stats been posted bemoaning the hire of Russ Grimm???

I didn't see any of these at the time. Funny how things get spun. The improvements in their averages speaks volumes.

Again, maybe I am just a Kool-Aid drinker, but I trust Nix. In turn, I trust Gailey. I think the two of them are working together (now, there's a concept) to make this team respectable. They are nothing, if not diligent. I am just glad that they are putting a staff together.

For me, I guess as long as his name isn't Alex Van Pelt, I am happy with it.

How do stats pertain to a positional coach who had zero imput on the playcalling ?

Some posters try so hard to be smart while running straight into a brick wall.

Way to distort the facts. You should work for one of the cable news stations.

the whole plan on these hires was in place months ago. Everything else we heard has been lip service. They have shuffled positions around and now hired an OC that will work for pittens and not add the value you get from an OC. Go ahead kool aid drinkers I hope you are happy with **** on a shingle.

He wasn't the guy calling the plays in AZ... He was merely RB coach..
he won't be the guy calling the plays in Buffao either..

Which no doubt means we got a OC for a 5% raise of a RB coach who didn't work for squat to begin with. How convenient. I, for one, would like to see a complete management staff on this god damned team for a change. We're being sold crap. They spun the crap good and people are going to buy into it, again. Suckers.

But the running game coordinator, Russ Grimm, would've made many posters wet their pants if he had signed up as HC.

This post exhibits a complete lack of analytical skills, as demonstrated by the many logical and accurate responses to your premise.

Please, if you're going to be completely negative, have some kind of rational argument(s) for your position.
