    Big Arm QB to Buffalo?????

    Rotoworld:

Bills GM Buddy Nix says arm strength will be a key factor as the team attempts to find a franchise QB this offseason.
"You don’t bring a guy in here, a quarterback for example, that has questionable arm strength," explained Nix. "In this wind and this climate you’ve got to be able to throw through that. So you bring one in that can do that." Noodle-armed Ryan Fitzpatrick will only return as a backup. Trent Edwards has adequate arm strength, but is too afraid to use it.

Hopefully this will put Trent outta work i have seen enough from him and would love it if we moved in a new direction.

Clausen only threw 4 INTs on 425 passing attempts this past season.

Clausen and Bradford are good prospects at nine. I don't think I'd take either 1st overall because A. Suh is there, and B. they each have their own weaknesses.

But at nine, either is a good pick IMO.

Arm strength won't matter if he's on the ground.

Tackle in the 2nd, a lot of good prospects should still be there, Rodger Saffold or Charles Brown. Saffold improved his stock a lot this past week, and could even more with a strong combine. Brown is an elite athlete, the question is can he get up to 300 Lbs.

If a top notch QB prospect is there, we can't hesitate.

Bradford and Clausen are not exactly top notch QB prospects.

I'm not high on Bradford because of the injury, but for a young QB, Clausen oozes NFL potential.

Saffold is a Day3 prospect at best, whilst Brown is likely to move into R1.

There are too many teams who have needs who will be drafting ahead of us before our R2 pick.

Detroit (to groom after Backus) x 2 chances - either R1 or R2
Washington (if Samuels retires) x 2 chances
KC (if they move Alberts inside) x 2 chances
                  Oakland x 2 chances
                  Seattle x 3 chances - 2 in R1, 1 in R1
                  San Francisco x 2chances
Green Bay (to replace the rapidly ageing Clifton)
                  Arizona (to replace Gandy)
Dallas (to replace the rapidly ageing Adams)
Indianapolis (who never really replaced Ugoh)

If we consider the top tackles

                  Okung
                  Campbell
                  Bulaga
                  Davis
                  T Williams
                  Brown

and then the likes of Capers - teams needing a LT have 17 bites of the cake before we draft in R2

If this franchise wants to have any hope of ever winning again then we MUST draft a LT in Round1.

There will be a run on tackles in this draft as there was in 2008 when Long, Clady, C Williams, Alberts, Goselius, Otah, Baker and D Brown got taken in Round1 - thats 8 OTs.

we could trade back up into the 1st rd but i dont see that happening with so many needs and switching to the 34 etc... nix will want to keep all his picks...

I'm not convinced on any of these QB's in the upcoming draft at all.

Hopefully the combine will tell us more. I'd like to see at least 2 QB's shine there, in order to ease my mind on taking a chance on one.

To the initial report, I'm glad somebody realizes that it takes a special QB to succeed here in Buffalo. I've said it before, and its obviously evident. The Bills greatest success at the QB position has been a big, strong, tough, and smart QB. Man do I wish Kelly clones grew on trees. We've had only one of those since Jim left (Bledsoe), however, he lacked in the smart category.

As some have said, I think we will look at a hybrid defence maximising the current players on the roster.

I think we will draft a midround DT who can play both DT and NT in either formation and might look to pickup Aaron Kampman who looks likely not to be resigned by Green Bay

I agree but Bledsoe didnt lack in the smarts the Front Office did. Ive always said Bledsoe is the old style of QB who needs a solid big line which Buffalo never gave him. Give that man a great line and as you saw when he had protection he ripped it up. Too bad our Front Office couldnt realize that.

Exactly... we will most likely not get a day one starter ready LT if we don't take one in the first. Trading down is an option, but I don't think waiting until #41 is.

How does one pass on McClain if he is available at #9? I don't think I could do it.
