    An Interesting tidbit about the NFL in LA

    One thing that might benefit the fans is avoiding scare stories about the Bills moving. That happened a couple of weeks ago when some rich guy from Los Angeles announced he was building a stadium in the City of Industry, then importing an existing team. Buffalo, he said, was at the top of his list. He got a day's worth of publicity out of that little gem.
    Here is an inconvenient fact for that bozo. Al Davis, the Raiders' owner, has been a friend of mine for 50 years. When I was writing my book "Birth of the New NFL," we were in frequent contact. Davis reminded me several times that he and the Raider franchise still owned NFL rights to Los Angeles. The Raiders may be having trouble winning games these days, but Al is still undefeated in the courtroom.




    So Big Al, it would seem, has some serious leverage.

      And I rather suspect his memory will still be good on that point. There aren't too many of that particular 'club' left now.
